Do to the recent increase in pet pig ownership on the Island I have been receiving a lot of messages about taking them on as patients. I regret to inform you that as I work with a number of farms that raise pigs on their properties for commercial use and due to strict biosecurity measures and concerns with regards to disease transmission, I am unable to accept any new pet pig patients in my practice. At this time I recommend contacting your local in-clinic practices for servi...ces for pet potbelly or mini pigs. Also, please be aware when considering taking on pet pigs that there are diseases that may be transmitted from pigs to humans and vice versa and be aware of the risk of the spread of disease between farms. Especially if you live near commercial operations or visit other friends with pet pigs or backyard operations raising pigs for meat. See more
