Isthmus Moncton/Blessings in a Backpack

This Easter weekend, the kids in our program will have a few extras in their bags. Thank you to Netco Electric for supplying mashed potatoes this week. Happy Easter everyone!

We had a special guest this morning while we were packing. Shaun McPhee stopped in on behalf of SE Mutual with a cheque for $5000!! This generous donation will go a long way to help feeding the children in 2021!

This was the last week to pack before Christmas. Thankful to have partners like Netco Electric to help us on this very cold day to deliver to 9 schools before the holidays. The bags were full this week with a few extras and they were heavy! Happy holidays from all of us at Isthmus!

Food Sponsor of the Week Our food sponsor this week is Insight Financial Services. Brett Murphy and staff have donated $500 from their December giving campaign and are sponsoring Kraft Dinner this week! Thank you for your generosity. Brett is a volunteer with Isthmus and a faithful supporter of Golf for Kids Sake golf tournament held each year to benefit Isthmus and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Moncton.

Exciting news for our Girls Night In event!! CLINTON FERNANDES will be going live on this page November 26th at 6:30 pm!!! Get your friends together and tune in... for a half hour of great music! After his set, we will be doing the draws for the Raffle and 50/50 live from our event page. Don't forget to get your tickets!! There will be a virtual tip jar available during his performance, and 100% of the tips made will be going to our charities. We are thrilled to have him partner with us during this event!

If there was ever a time to give, it's now! Isthmus (formerly Blessings in a Backpack) has been filling weekend food bags for underprivileged children since 2012. Typically we have 10-12 items in the bags, depending on our budget. If your group or business is looking for a way to give back to the community, please consider becoming a Food Sponsor of the Week with Isthmus! Do you know what it costs each week to put 1 item in the bag? For example, 1 packet of oatmeal is $165.55..., 1 packet of soup mix is $322, 1 apple is $284 or 1 granola bar is $112. Our program runs each week throughout the school year. Every dollar we receive goes to purchasing food for the kids. We have no overhead costs, thanks to our generous community partners. And we have to mention our dedicated volunteers who come each week and deliver 710 food bags to 31 Moncton area schools. Thank you for continuing to support this amazing initiative!
