She is a part of the 3 fires people. The love for art has always brought her to cross other disciplines, such as Fashion, Fine Arts, and Sustainability. Marissa was one of the first in her family to pursue their artistic & creative ways as a career. She is a Fashion Design Graduate, as well as recent graduate with her Bachelors of Commerce Degree. Marissa opened the doors this year, to allow design, workshops, and space to grow as an Indigenous businesswoman and artist. #RockYourMocs2020

Have you met Kristol Abel from Sault College Indigenous Studies? She's shared her gorgeous work with us for #RockYourMocs2020 "My name is Kristol Abel. Born and... raised in Brantford, ON close to my mother’s First Nation of Six Nations. I learned to bead when I was 8 years old on a bead loom. I also started to dance at powwows when I was 4 years old. When I got a little older my family stopped making my regalia’s. I had always dreamed of having beadwork like the other dancers that I looked up to. My first beaded top was finished by the time I was 17 years old. In my early 20s people started to ask me to take orders. I have since made 11 beaded tops and countless fully beaded regalia’s for all styles of dance. Beading for me is relaxing, my happy place! I look at it as trying to make the world a prettier place one bead at a time. I truly love #RockYourMocs Week! If you have some wear them!!"
