[purchase link in bio] Here and Now: An Anthology of Queer Italian-Canadian Writing is the most comprehensive volume yet of queer Italian-Canadian writing, and a milestone in Italian-Canadian studies and Canadian literature. The book includes short stories, poems, memoirs, excerpts of novels, plays and film scripts in English. The writings in this groundbreaking anthology take readers on a journey that interweaves private and public spaces, eliciting love and anger, laughter ...and tears. Featuring more than 30 established and emerging writers, with an introduction by literary scholars Domenic Beneventi, Michela Baldo and Paolo Frascà, the volume has garnered the support of the Queer Studies in Quebec Research Group (ÉRÉQQ), the Association of Italian Canadian Writers (AICW), the Frank Iacobucci Centre for Italian-Canadian Studies at the University of Toronto, English Language Arts Network (ELAN), the University of Calabria and Accenti Magazine. Here and Now: An Anthology of Queer Italian-Canadian Writing is an essential volume for scholars and students as well as the public at large. #uoftitalian #aicw #queerstudies #lgbtq #lgbtq #utotonto #universityoftoronto #italianstudies #italianistica #genderstudies

It is with great pleasure that we present you the readings of the cantos of Inferno of the Divine Comedy by the eternally-famous Dante Alighieri. As mentioned in our post yesterday, a diverse group of people in the Torontonian community have helped in realizing the ‘Toronto Salutes Dante’ project, in time for the 700th anniversary of the Italian poet's passing. This first video opens the series with messages from Professor Nicholas Terpstra, the Interim Emilio Goggio Chair of... Italian Studies; Veronica Manson, Director of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto; Giulio Ricchioni, Executive Director of Cultural Programming of Villa Charities; and then readings in the Anishinaabemowin language by Matthias Nunno (lines 1-30) and in English by the Rt. Hon. Adrienne Clarkson, former Governor General of Canada (1999-2005). The concluding part includes a discussion with Professor George Ferzoco, our Goggio Visiting Professor, and our very own Professor of Medieval Studies, Elisa Brilli. Enjoy and tune in to our YouTube channel in the coming days as we post the rest of the readings. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCetkfJ2Yr8Zr10V014tZPzA #uoftitalian #dantedì #25marzodantedì #dante700 #diversity #toronto #canada #italianistica #italianstudies #uoft #utoronto #universityoftoronto See more
