Itchy's Alphabet Program

This past Saturday, I was at a bookstore in a mall, waiting to pickup my daughter and her friend. I felt nostalgic. It was a bookstore I had gone to many times ...when she was little and couldn’t seem to learn to read. The beginning reader section had Bob Books. A good start. The rest of the books were popular phonics books and leveled readers. As a parent, it’s a baffling collection of read alouds. That’s really what they are. I took photos of Level 1 pages. My wild guess is that many of the skills required to read the words are advanced skills. These were the books I would buy hoping they would help my daughter learn to read. It is so important that we help parents and caregivers understand where to begin and what resources help.
