Since land in Borsa village was purchased by Impact Romania and Pas Cu Pas in April 2018, there has been so much activity on the Family Farm. Buildings have been torn down, small building projects have been completed, vegetables have been planted and picked, and spaces to meet and eat together have been created. Life and growth are springing forth as staff, volunteers, and kids gather to work, eat, and play together there. Working side-by-side with volunteers and staff, orpha...n children are learning life skills, practicing teamwork and cooperation, and deepening relationships at the Family Farm. We often hear of important conversations about life and faith that happen naturally as people work alongside one another on the land. As kids and young adults contribute to the development of the land and a home-like atmosphere, there is a growing sense of ownership and belonging. Long-term projects like the Family Farm require regular, predictable financial support. Impact Dominican Republic is an iTeams Canada program that works in partnership with churches in Canada and the Lighthouse Project and Youth for Christ in the Dominican Republic. Together, they educate over 1000 students from preschool to grade 12, provide a daily breakfast for students in need, and run a vocational school for young adults in the community of Los Alcarrizos. Both schools provide opportunities for children and young adults to transform their life situations th...rough education, income, and health. The Lighthouse Project is now expanding into the community of Villa Altagracia, a community which is in dire need of basic necessities. They just completed building a water purification system which will provide clean water to thousands of people in the community, and they hope to soon begin the foundation for a new school. Your donation allows iTeams Canada to aid in the transformation of communities like Los Alcarrizos and Villa Altagracia by supporting local leaders and providing necessities such as clean water and education to vulnerable people! Impact Kenya-Shangilia is a children’s home that provides shelter, education, food, clothing, emotional and spiritual support to abandoned and orphaned Kenyan children. Elizabeth joined Shangilia Children’s Home in 2008 and graduated from the program in 2013. Elizabeth explained that Shangilia changed everything about her life. Because of Shangilia, she was able to go through school and chase her dreams, while surrounded by a supportive community. Elizabeth received her degr...ee in Health Systems Management and is currently working towards her masters in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Her dream is to use the knowledge she gained to save lives nationally and internationally. Elizabeth reflects the transformation experienced as a result of growing up in Shangilia. There are many more stories like Elizabeth’s that show the power that a loving community, a stable environment, and educational opportunities can have on individuals.
