In this week’s edition of TRADE-TRICKS, more on Vulcanizing, this time we want to share a trick or two about vulcanizing PRESSURE, another key ingredient to quality vulcanizing. The pressure is crucial, you simply cannot have quality tire vulcanization without it. The pressure is responsible for the mechanical force that compounds everything together and gives you the seamless like new tire look and feels! Trade-Trick - Keeping Constant pressure prevents the micro-air ...pockets from inflating and creating the OREO-like texture left on the tire when not vulcanized properly, always maintain the pre-set pressure between 28 and 35 PSI (1,93 to 2,41 bar) in your vulcanization equipment until the curing time is over. Even while cooling off! Constant pressure is also key to prevent tire deformations. While an equal amount of internal and external pressure is required, a 5-psi tolerance difference between the external airbag pressure and the internal airbag pressure is acceptable. But no more! In this week’s edition of ITRS TRADE-TRICKS, Vulcanizing Trade-Tricks we picked up over the years, that makes a difference when vulcanizing. Although there are many important factors to consider while vulcanizing, today we will focus on Heat or Curing Temperature, one key ingredient to quality vulcanizing. Constant and Timely Heat is responsible for kick-starting the chemical reaction (thermochemical) that will make rubber malleable enough to shape in place and adhere to ...the tire damage area during vulcanization; which is why we recommend that the temperature rises NICE AND SLOW until the desired curing temperature is reached. We recommend you review and follow your supplier's curing chart before you start. Trade-Trick - We recommend, leaving the airbag inflated until the temperature cools off to 150F or 65C, this trick will help eliminate any air pockets left under the patch or in the rubber To learn more about quality vulcanization, become a Certified Tire Repair Technician, or our ON-SITE FLEET TRAINING on TIRE REPAIR for BIAS and RADIAL programs visit our page us at itrs.ca/training-certification/ or email us at [email protected] #TRADETRICKS #ASTUCESDUMETIERS #Réparationdepneus
