#DYK that #Ontario is home to over 85 billion #trees? That’s incredible! Know what else is incredible? Our sustainable approach to #forestmanagement. Each year, less than 0.5% of our provincial #forests are harvested, ensuring the provision of #forest values for generations to come. #ItTakesAForest

#DYK that all areas harvested on Crown land in Ontario must be renewed either through seeding, natural regeneration or #treeplanting? It’s the law! For every #tree cut down, multiple new #trees are established. In Ontario, more than 68 million new trees are established each year through tree planting alone. Local #nurseries like Ferguson Tree Nursery (FTN) in Kemptville, Ontario provide #reforestation stock to #forest license holders. Each year, FTN provides ~1.4 million #seedlings for the central Ontario #forestry sector. Ed Patchell, CEO of the not-for-profit FTN, is proud of the nursery’s mission to promote good forestry in Ontario and support local jobs and #conservation, it’s about doing the right thing and supporting conservation and recreation in forestry.
