Earlier this year on February 22, 2020, the IUPAT DC 46 held a Day of Action event to give back to our communities. Thanks to all the volunteers, members, staff and clients, we were able to paint all 3 levels of the Luso Canadian Charitably Society in Toronto! Luso is a community-based organization that supports families and adults, living with physical and/or developmental disabilities to reach their full potential.... This was a big undertaking to complete all in one day, and a reminder that great things are accomplished when we work together. Thank you very much to everyone who took the time to give back!

International Union of Painters & Allied Trades 01.04.2020

Attention all members: We have all been following the news for the last several days and are aware that Ontario is in a State of Emergency, for the safety and protection of all Ontarians due to the COVID-19 virus. As you know, this State of Emergency does not shut down all construction sites. Our priority is your health, safety, and security.... As things stand, if your site is continuing to operate, we strongly encourage you to: - Keep a safe distance from your coworkers. Social distancing applies to you even at the workplace. This means: keeping a minimum of 6 feet/2 meters away from any other person. - You should have access to first aid stations, clean washrooms, ample personal hygiene equipment (including hand soap and hand sanitizer), and personal protective equipment (face masks and gloves). If any of these conditions are not met this is an unsafe working environment. Amid the ever-changing climate of the COVID-19 crisis, there is one prevailing truth health and safety comes first. If you are being asked to work in conditions you believe to be unsafe, we urge you to: - STOP working - Get to a safe place - Tell your immediate supervisor you have stopped working for safety reasons - Phone your union representative right away By doing this, you are protecting yourself, your family, Canada, and the world. You do not have to be symptomatic (coughing, feverish, feeling sick) to be sick. This means you can feel well, have the virus, and be passing it around to other people. These people may not be as lucky as you are. You owe it to yourself, your family, and your DC 46 Brothers and Sisters to be careful over the coming days and weeks. Visit here for more information: https://www.iupat.on.ca//measures-you-can-take-as-a-worke/
