To understand the effect #breathing has on the #body, it’s important to acknowledge the nuances of the autonomic nervous system, the bodily system that regulate...s the internal organs, #instincts, and other primal functions typically outside our conscious awareness. This system has two control functions, the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. When our breathing is short and rapid, our stress hormones kick into gearthe kind of gear that originally told us A tiger is chasing me, I must flee! Today’s more mundane stressors, such as, I have to send this e-mail before my deadline, or I’m kind of upset at so-and-so, tax our system and can drain our adrenals, leaving us depleted. We suffer from burnout and need more practices that attend to our inner nurturingour parasympathetic nervous system. The parasympathetic nervous system is our rest-and-digest mode, which aids in dropping the heart rate and blood pressure, initiating a state of calm. When we use the breath skillfully, we can support the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems, ensuring healthy physiological responses. Different breath practices can ignite different stateseither elevating energy or relaxing the #body. We can control our emotional states and activate the #parasympathetic or sympathetic systems, depending on what we need and how we’re feeling. #Anxiety, poor sleep, and #stress are significant factors in chronic health conditionsall of which could be improved by disciplined attentiveness to the #breath.

FREE BREATHWORK CLASS Revelation Breathwork is a therapeutic breathing technique meant to assist you with emotional coping and personal growth. Goal: Bring about improvements to your psychological, spiritual, and physical well-being.... What happens during a Breathwork session? Group guidance. Controlled breathing at a fast rate for a set amount of time in order to bring about altered states of consciousness. This will be done lying down. Music is a part of holotropic breathwork sessions. Dear Edmonton friends, I don’t know how many of you are aware but I have started an artist collective called CAL or @collective_art_lab Lab in July of last yea...r. It has been an incredible journey, and challenge to try and create a space where artists feel appreciated, musicians get to express themselves, and performing artists get to showcase some of their talents. I am so happy that we are hosting our next show as well as our 3rd annual show on March 20 at the Works Festival Gallery space.
