Dear yoga friends, It's been a while <3 I just wanted to update you. I'm sure you already know but just in case :) Due to the global COVID-19 crisis all classes have been cancelled for the spring session. We don't know yet whether classes will resume this summer so I will keep you posted. I'm thinking of all of you wonderful yoga teachers out there during this time of uncertainty <3 Starting Monday April 6, I'll be teaching a weekly live-stream yoga class from 10-11:30am on I...nstagram. To join the class you need an Instagram account and then follow me @siobhan_ss. I will also be posting yoga videos on Facebook and Youtube so stay tuned as more will be revealed. I'd like to stay connected to all of you during these uncertain times so please don't hesitate to reach out. If you'd like to get yoga news from me please contact me at the email address below to sign up for my mailing list or message me here. Also starting April 6-15 I will be facilitating another 10-day yoga sadhana. If you wish to join or for more information please email me at [email protected]. I have about 18 students participating at the moment. I send out some resources: sequences, videos, photos and we all practice at home for 10 days in a row. After Day 10 I take a break for a few days and then start the 10-day cycle again and will repeat until we're all back in class together. Hi yoga friends, I've got some free intro classes coming up at Mount Pleasant Community Centre on Sunday, May 5 at 12pm and Tuesday, May 7 at 10am. Come on out :)
"One way to begin enjoying the delicious fruit of silence is to practice it briefly. Before we pick up our utensils to eat a meal or lift a mug to drink coffee or tea, we can pause in stillness for a minute. We can remain quiet just before we make a phone call. And, instead of immediately going on and on about what's happening in our life, we can give space to the other person, listening patiently to what they have to say. In time, as we learn to still our mouth, we notice that we are also learning to still our unruly thoughts and passions. We learn, as a Jewish sage once put it, that "the fence of wisdom is silence."

What does being brave mean to you? Leave a comment, tell me a story :) I love stories. To me, it's showing up to teach my yoga classes even when I'm in a bad mood, or feeling sick, or feeling sad; knowing that I'm probably not going to get it all right but being present with it all regardless.

Oppression, identity, and privilege. When I read Sara Ahmed's story I felt heartsick. Not because it was a surprise to me, but because it resonated so close to home. I hope you'll take the time to read her story and reflect on how oppression, identity, and privilege play out in your life. We can only become more just and compassionate beings if we do the work to decolonize our hearts and minds <3
