NorCliff Farms Donates to local Food Banks in the GTA. NorCliff Farms Inc. are the largest producers and packers of Fiddleheads in North America, and the only certified company and in the past, we have enjoyed running a Culinary Competition to raise funds and awareness for SickKids Foundation, as well as various other charity events. Recently we have been rebuilding and expanding our plant to accommodate the newfound interest in and purchasing of our Fiddleheads. So now we h...ave decided that it was time to give back to the community and get involved again by supporting and donating the local food banks. With the help of CB Stealth who has graciously volunteered trucks for delivery NorCliff Farms will be donating to the following Food Banks: Eden Food For Change North York Harvest Food Bank Richmond Hill Community Food Bank So what is a Fiddlehead? It is the tender growth of the Ostrich Fern and is an edible wild fern that resembles the spiral end of a fiddle, hence the name. The part of the fiddlehead that's eaten is the coiled end, which breaks through the ground in the spring. If there was ever a food that truly deserves the title of Superfood, fiddleheads would be it. The greens are a rare vegetarian source of omega-3 fatty acids, which help reduce inflammation and promote a healthy heart. Fiddleheads have twice as many antioxidants as blueberries, and are loaded with fibre -- seven grams per half-cup serving -- which helps to fill you up and stave off hunger for longer.
