Ontario Camps Association (OCA) invites everyone to a special event in support of opening all camps! The OCA COVID-19 Task Force has organized this Virtual Event to have a huge impact on leaders and decision-makers in the province. WHO & WHAT Program, Audience, Presenters: The Program: What is the OCA doing to support the path to camp for the 2021 summer? Task Force/SickKids collaboration. Endorsement from SickKids Hospital Team. OCA campers on the impact of the pandemic. Why camp is needed more than ever. Detailed call to action for viewers to directly tell their MPP camp needs to happen. The Presenters: Executive Director, Joy Levy, and OCA President, Heather Davidson, will provide an overview of the OCA mission and services with a focus on Task Force and committee efforts during this extraordinary year. Task Force Chair, Jack Goodman, with a panel of health and policy experts, including SickKids CEO Dr. Ronald Cohn laying out both the OCA guidance and field guide process, along with the social, emotional, physical and mental health rationale for the OCA to open and serve our youth this year. And just like that, we're at Day 12 - the last day of camp! Jacob and Ashley are boarding the busses home to see their families. This year, they leave camp with bittersweet feelings - sad that they couldn’t see all their friends at camp, but absolutely excited for next summer! Today was Day 11 at camp, the second last day! After a wonderful Kabbalat Shabbat on Friday night, Shabbat is always a great opportunity for the campers to relax, enjoy the water, and reflect on their week with their friends. Today we join Jacob and Ashley as they head over to the lake for one of the best activites at camp, which is tubing! As they walk over to the tubing dock, they share some fun memories from the week and reminisce about some of their best times at ca...mp. It’s Day 10 at camp, and the second Shabbat at camp! We love to take time on Shabbat to reflect on the amazing week we had, get dressed up, take LOTS of photos, and sing songs together Today Jacob describes why he loves Shabbat at J. Academy, especially since camp is the only place where he observes Shabbat (similar to many of our staff and campers). This makes camp Shabbat SO much more special and unique ... Today is Day 9 at camp! After so many activities like Olympics and Clue Night, Ashley and Jacob decide to relax and enjoy some fresh air outside the nurse's office. Our camp nurses always do their best to keep camp happy and healthy, and our two hosts take a moment to thank them and all other front-line workers who have been working so hard during the pandemic. --- Ashley and Jacob are enjoying their #Best12DaysOfSummer right from camp! Today is the 7th day of camp! It is a perfect day for one of camp's best events, which is Clue Night! On Clue Night, campers work together to use clues, interview suspects, and solve a mystery. In today's video, Ashley and Jacob test your detective skills with a riddle: What does Russia have first that France has second and Israel has third? Do you think you could figure it out? It's Day 6, which means we are halfway through camp! One of our favorite camp-wide activities is gathering together on the field or in the concert hall for Israeli dancing! Today is Day 5 at J. Academy, which is olympics day! This is a day where campers get to participate in sports and compete against eachother in teams! It's always so great to see campers running around, cheering for their teams, and having an absolute blast. Day 3 at camp! Shabbat is one of the most special days at J. Academy. All the campers and staff shower, dress in blue & white, and take photos with their friends by the lake. We gather in a large circle, sing songs, and celebrate the time we're sharing together. One of our longtime camp traditions is the telling of a Shabbat story.
