#tbt Keeping on with the pastel and throwback item theme, this blazer is part of a skirt suit that used to belong to my mom. It’s definitely more than 30 years old but it looks brand new. It’s lavender with white striping running through the lapel. I’ve paired it with a dressier white tank and my favourite trouser cut Fidelity denims for a more a somewhat dressy vibe. I threw on my white patent heels from Schutz and some big earrings.... I’ve also worn the jacket over a pale yellow dress for a bridal shower. I could also wear a fitted white tank, denims and white kicks. And of course I could wear it with the skirt which is made of the same striping as the lapels. Pastels are a great way to add a little colour to your wardrobe without feeling too far out of your comfort zone. And suits, whether they come with skirts or pants, are great because they can be worn together or separate. Style tip...if you have any suits in your wardrobe, hanging them separately will allow you to see both pieces. When you can see them separately, you’ll be more likely to wear them. When they are hanging together, it’s easy to forget the bottoms exist. Wednesday Wardrobe Wisdom ... Facts! When I ask a client why they want to hold onto certain clothes , one responses I get is that it's their skinny clothes and they plan on fitting into them again. ... My next question is usually "when was the last time you wore them?". Now, if it's been donkey's years and you still don't fit into them, it's probably not gonna happen at this point. Time to let go of the past and embrace who you are in this present space and time. Work on loving this version of yourself! Love the skin that you're in now! When you hold onto clothes that don't fit , you're basically saying that you're not good enough as you are! Which also says you don't accept yourself as you are. Because if you accepted yourself fully, letting go of the "skinny" clothes wouldn't be an issue. We can be so critical of ourselves (I have my moments too!) but that's not loving yourself. You have to work on loving and accepting yourself from the inside out. If you feel there is room for improvement, then by all means start working towards it in a healthy way. Bottom line, if you can truly love and accept all of you and I mean all of you, you'll see a shift start to take place in your life. It's definitely easier said than done and won't happen overnight but if you work at it everyday, the results can be life changing. Focus on creating a wardrobe that reflects who you are now and let go of the rest. Pastels are big this season and lately I've been loving this shade of blue. It's soft and I would consider it a neutral. Whether blue, pink, yellow or green, pastels are a great way to add colour to your wardrobe in a way that doesn't feel so bold. I chose to wear this skirt with white but you can also wear it taupe or tan or any other pastel colour. I would even edge it up a bit with a black top for serious contrast. Thrifted this skirt a year ago from the @blackmarketvi...ntage. True story...it was a little high wasted for me so I actually took the waist band off and left the edge raw. I sewed on a hook and eye for a fastener. The top is from @zara and can be worn off the shoulder but that is NOT my jam. Feels uncomfortable to me and then there's the bra situation. Shoes are from Guess and get a lot of wear during the summer. I've definitely gotten my money's worth...but hey, they were only $5. Picnic basket bag was "gifted" to me by @christineclement I borrowed the belt from another dress in my closet. Yep, that's a style tip! . You can do the same in a pinch. New year, new shirt... Not exactly. I've had this silk top for at least 10 years. Can't tell you the last time I wore it though. . Not even sure why. Got it from @zara and I still love it because of the neutral colour and all the ... So you can see that I don't live by the rule of getting rid of stuff you haven't worn in year. I think it really depends on what it is and how you feel about it. I'm that girl that shops strategically and takes care of her stuff so that it will last for years. I'm also big on maximizing my wardrobe to minimize my shopping. But here's a #styletip...when it comes to solid colour blouses, look for ones that have some sort of visual interest to it. It'll give a little more flavour to whatever you wear it with versus something that's plain. Look, with 2021 is in full swing...OK, well we're almost 2 weeks in...but this is the time to get yourself and your wardrobe together.
