Planting 3 maple trees for the veterans square in Marathon. One of trees (Silver Maple) donated by Jack Pine Tree Care. The other trees (Sierra maples) donated by the Marathon Lions Club and Veteran’s Square Committee Article from the Marathon Mercury.

We would like to extend our thanks again this year to the... town of Marathon who donated $5,000.00 for the purchase of flowers for the wooden flower display boxes located on Peninsula Road. The addition of flowers for anyone driving into Marathon greatly enhances the overall look of our town. Flowers were order from local businesses in Marathon; Sirard’s Independent Foods and Home Hardware. We would like to thank all those businesses that adopted flower boxes and took the time to weed and plant this years new flowers. Someone decided to sneak in and cut down 7-8 birch trees on the road by the boat launch at Three Finger Lake this morning. Couldn't even bother to clean up the... limbs they cut off the trees they took for firewood. Cutting wood in this area is illegal unless authorized to do so. The OPP and Marathon Bylaw have both been contacted regarding this. Personally, it stuns me that someone would have the nerve to do this. See more
