January 8, 2020 To: The Members of the Jacksons Point BIA For the past 9 years I have been proud to play a part in this group. I have made great friends and fostered amazing relationships with you our member businesses, Council, and Town Staff. ... So, it is with mixed emotion that I announce my intention to not stand for re-nomination to the Board of the Jacksons Point BIA at the end of this year. It is time for some new people with new ideas and new goals to take the reins and move this Village forward. In addition, I am sorry to announce that Joel Lipchitz (member for 9 years), Andy Dubrawski (member for 5 years), and Willow Big Canoe (member for 1 year) will also be resigning leaving all Board positions open. I thank all 3 of them for their commitment and support over our tenure together. With our AGM coming up in on February 12th it is important that we all work together to find a new Board. I would be most willing to work with the new Board to ease the transition and help with Grant Applications and Festivals. I am appealing to you to come forward and keep the momentum going. Step up and support your fellow members and our businesses. If we fail to put forth a new Board of Directors by the AGM, at the meeting we will declare the Jacksons Point BIA dormant and all money and assets of the BIA will be turned over to the Town of Georgina to hold in trust until such time as a new Board is formed. If you are interested, or know someone who may be interested, please reach out to me at [email protected]. If you are interested in forming a new Board, please contact me at [email protected]. Deadline for application is January 31. Thank you to all who have supported me in this journey. Sincerely Steve Jacobson
Be safe out there!
Thank you to all who reached out to thank me for my work in Georgina. Its a team effort. I could not do it without the help of my board and the support of our community. Thanks to Andy Dubrawski for bringing the fire pit to keep us warm last night as well to the Lake Simcoe Arms who supplied the free hot chocolate and to Jay Waite and his son Brandon of Dont Waite Decks & Docks for putting up all the lights in the Parkette and to Yossi Vorovitch of Chabad Georgina for the beautiful menorah. It was amazing to see all the happy people enjoying the night. Lastly a big thanks to Mayor Margaret Quirk and the support of the Town of Georgina. I love living here.
Join us in the Parkette Saturday Night before and after the Parade
Did you know that parking is not allowed on most streets from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m., Nov. 15 through April 15? This helps the Town so it can completely clear streets of snow and so large emergency vehicles can access all routes. Visit georgina.ca/snow to learn more about snow removal in Georgina.
Come out and join us for a family concert. Please bring an unwrapped toy for the toy drive. See you there
Congratulations to Scot Davidson and family on his being sworn in as MP York Simcoe. We look forward to the great things that you will do for our area and the Lake.

A little history of the building now known as Eustace Pharmasave. 1930s Dominion Store. 1940 not exactly sure. 1950 Madills Pharmacy. 1960s Brent Eustaces father bought the store. Brent told me how his Dad renovated the store by literally taking a chainsaw down the centre of the store and moving all of the inventory to the back half while he renovated the front and then reversed while he renovated the back. He never lost a days sales.
Today and yesterday. Thanks to Pat Burrows for this copy of the promotional brochure for the Twin Seasons Motel built by my Uncle Max Gold.
Yesterday Norms Booth Red Hots and Hamburgers. Notice the bicycles for rent in front. In between it was the post office and Apples of Gold.
Thanks to Sharon Finestone for correcting me on this building in JP which was not the site of Gryfes Bakery. It was in fact the location of the Silvers Kosher Hotel. In the back there were 2 sheds. One held chicken coops and the other served as a Synagogue. Gryfes Bakery was in the blue store beside this site
Okay, spread the word!
Be sure to drop in at our member The Health Hut for their customer appreciation event
