Are you feeling under pressure, stressed and confused about the holidays? All these feelings are normal, especially during this time of the year. While it’s time for celebration, family, food and fun, it can most certainly also be a time when we feel alone, disconnected or isolated. Especially while we’re in a worldwide pandemic. According to Jill Goldstein, a professor of psychiatry and medicine at Harvard Medical School. Stress affects not only memory, mental health and m...any other brain functions, like mood and anxiety, but also promotes inflammation, which also affects heart health. Today, I’m sending a gentle reminder of ways you can tame your stress so you can ease into the holidays and keep your stress in check. 1. Meditation (my fav) 2. Exercise/Movement (also my fav) 3. Get out into nature 4. Listen to music 5. Journal writing 6. Epson salt bath 7. Eat healthy food 8. Deep breathing 9. Good quality sleep 10. Call a friend or family member In order to manage your stress, first you have to identify the things that cause you stress and acknowledge your triggers. While there are many other things you can do, I find these things most effective and you can do them just about anywhere. You don’t always have control over things that happen outside yourself, but you have the ability to take control of what happens internally. Stop for a minute and take deep breath - it’s an amazing feeling. It’s hard to believe that Christmas is 16 days away. Christmas shopping is done and the house is decorated but I have not started any of my Christmas baking. Ekkkk! I have been making festive coffees and the kids favourite hot chocolate. Hot chocolate has always been too sweet for me but I have a treat for you it’s an adult version of hot chocolate that is naturally sweetened, has protein and collagen-based. This hot chocolate recipe is dairy-free, paleo, low-sugar, low-carb..., and also gluten-free. It is also the creamiest and thickest hot chocolate that I have ever tasted since it includes collagen. Do I have to remind you about the benefits of collagen? Collagen helps strengthen nails, improves skin elasticity, promotes hair growth, reduces joint inflammation, helps gut health, helps to strengthen intestinal tissues and lining. Here’s my recipe for a healthy festive hot chocolate. 1 cup Full Fat Coconut Milk 1/2 scoop Chocolate Protein Powder 1 tbsp. Maple Syrup 1 tbsp. Cocoa Powder 1 scoop Vital Proteins Collagen Powder 1/4 tsp. Vanilla Extract 1 pinch of Sea Salt Add all ingredients together into a blender. Blend for 45 seconds. Pour into a mug and enjoy. Check out this gorgeous winter harvest bowl. I am loving roasted veggies, hummus,eggs, cruciferous vegetables and avocados on these cooler months. Had a busy morning, got my workout in, made breakfast for my little one, did some consulting and now taking this break for this nutritious meal. I’m not gonna lie I’ve been feeling very anxious the last week and I am trying to keep myself occupied with a balance of meditation to help soothe the soul. ... Do you suffer from anxiety? If you do feel a little anxious throughout your day I encourage you to find a moment to care for yourself, whether it is going for a short walk or meditating or reading a book or chatting to a friend who lifts you up! Double tap if your happy it’s December? It’s hard to believe that were in the last month of 2020. What can I say friends it’s been a wild year! 2020 brought many challenges to all of us, a time in our lives that we’ll never forget. Contrary there are many positives that came with this year. I am very grateful for the challenges that helped me grow and reshape my mindset over the last 11 months.... I will continue to celebrate the process of transition and I will continue to believe in the possibilities that are ahead of me, each and every day. As I prepare for 2021, I keep trusting my journey.
