Our Tree of the month, Acer griseum also known as paperbark maple One of my favourites , well known for its cinnamon coloured bark which exfoliates in paper thin curls. Slow growing and has a very airy open canopy .Fall colour is quite nice .We have used this material even in a tight space and they seem to do well . Insect resistant based on some information.

Perennial of the month Rodgersia aesculifolia also known as chestnut leaved rodgersia. I really like the boldness of the foliage . Exotic looking too . I can see it as a feature plant in a perennial garden or even a grouping. Mix with heucheras and hakonechloa and hydrangeas

Its never too early to think about your gardens. Actually, January is a good month to do your planning, do a bit of research about trees and gardens. Always consider your environment. Do you want to attract more wildlife such as birds or butterflies or do you want your garden to be less maintenance especially on water ? ( Xeriscaping ) Start now , its never too early to think green !!!

Around this time i Am blessed to enjoy family time and get to pamper my indoor plants. These two plants here ... selaginella and platycerium reminds me of my university years and my landscaping years in Manila .
