First off, it is important to know that deferment means that the lender expects the payment to be made at a later date. Secondly, if you defer a payment, interest will still accrue. This means, if you miss payments, you will pay interest on top of interest. Lastly, you need to contact your lender prior to missing a payment. Otherwise, they could report to your credit bureau a missed mortgage payment. This would damage your credit, so please make sure you contact your lender in advance.
