Hey Everyone, so studios dropped this on Instagram yesterday. I think we can still continue dropping it today. If everyone uses the same hashtags and tags the Premier and Mayors it will show them how many people are affected by the closure of dance studios. Even if you're not in the regions that are affected, your studio could be next. Please post this on your IG page to support your local dance studio and all studios across Ontario. You know how much dance means to your stud...ents, and yourselves and have in person classes and a space to practice. Whats happened is that despite all the safety precautions dance studios have taken and the Ontario DANCE SAFE GUIDELINES that was presented in front of the standing finance committee throughout the summer, they got lumped in with gyms and fitness studios and were mandated to close on Friday October 9th for 28 days. Gyms and fitness studios have had several outbreaks but to our collective knowledge studios have had 0. We feel we are unfairly targeted because martial arts, hockey, various other recreational activities and dance programs at school can still continue. We have to continue paying rent for buildings we can not use, staff either have no classes or have to teach on zoom and we are loosing students because they do not want to do classes online. We have to get the attention of POLITICIANS and the Chief Medical Officer to help change the decision for dance studios, especially because this could be more than 28 days.
