Happy Sunday my fellow covid survivors! . Starting to work and photograph memories and milestones again (finally) so I thought it would be a good time to introduce myself. I’m Jaimie, lady behind the lense, wife mom to two wonderful kiddos and office admin to two awesome men who run a window and door installation company in Belleville.... All about love, positivity and helping people see the beauty in their lives and themselves each day through my photos. As an extrovert with a little introvert self isolation has been difficult but manageable. What I missed most were friends and family and in person contact. Hugs and kisses are my happy place with my people. Now that things are starting to open up again it’s nice to be back into some of the daily routines I missed and the break was a chance to focus on where I want to take my business. A little PSA before I post some images for an upcoming event I’m planning that I’m pretty excited about (and a tad nervous only because the images are self portraits, damn you covid!). Planning a portrait event at a beautiful indoor location in the county, hopefully later this summer when we are over the fear of covid and social distancing. This will be an open ended intimate event for women, men and possibly couples if they are desired.... Full sessions, one outfit, reduced down to whatever the individual feels comfortable wearing or not wearing. Looking for real, raw and vulnerable so as opposed to prior events I will not be commissioning the services of a makeup artist or hairstylist. Would love to photograph natural, beautiful you. Also, if you specifically know a heavily tattooed man that would be interested in doing this for free in exchange for me being able to use the images please have them contact me! Happy Mother’s Day weekend beautiful mama’s! I know it’s going to be a bit different this year but it’s your day and I hope it’s as wonderful as you are. . I’m going to get vulnerable and raw now so bear with me....... I think I speak for us all when I acknowledge how difficult the last two months have been. On a personal level the last few days my insomnia, anxiety and emotional hot mess crying moments have been many and emotionally exhausting. This time has been a real trigger for my anxiety disorder and I’m sure if you are struggling with any form of invisible illness you can relate. To help cope I’ve started journalling again (after a decade away from it). Daily positive affirmations and self talk, thoughts of gratitude and time outdoors have helped tremendously. Eating healthy, avoiding caffeine and alcohol and lots of water consumption and daily exercise including yoga (aerial and groundwork) and diaphragmatic breathing and trying to move my body with joy (I’m the crazy mom dancing and singing a lot). An added bonus is I’ve lost a few pounds so far so my skinny jeans may actually fit going back to work soon. In a week I return to my day job and re-open my business which is the light at the end of the Covid tunnel. I want to take the time to acknowledge moms and to share some pictures of some of my favourite ones I’ve had the privilege to photograph and call friends over the years. Absent are my mom and mother-in-law but it goes without saying that they are at the top of this list. Take care, stay safe and enjoy your day! I haven’t been posting much lately as I haven’t been shooting. As a non essential service during this uncertain time like everyone else I’m trying to stay home with my family and help flatten the curve on Covid19. . The impact on small businesses at this time is heavy but the weight of isolation feels even heavier these days. .... I thought I’d share some of my favourite images from the last year as a reminder of the importance of touch. . It’s linked to health and wellness physically and emotionally. It’s proven essential in the formative years for infants and children to develop a strong sense of belonging and love and in the elderly without it depression and other chronic ailments are inevitable. . My fear after this war with covid is done the world will be forever changed and somehow colder and more sterile. . I will still be shaking hands and offering hugs and kisses as usual, and won’t let this change the way I treat the people I love. . I hope you’ll do the same.
