Incision placement is an important topic we discuss during your consultation. The same surgery can have several different approaches to choose from, which will determine where the incision needs to be made. Additionally, the size of the incision will be based on the particularities of your surgical plan. I always assure my patients that we make every attempt to place incisions where they can be concealed or to minimize their visibility. The health of your skin and careful aftercare will also help in your healing process. The reality of plastic surgery is that there will be scars, but they will be far outshone by the transformative results of a successful surgery.

Gynecomastia is an incredibly common condition that causes a man’s chest to swell or become enlarged. Unfortunately, this condition is quite misunderstood and leaves many men feeling frustrated and self-conscious about the appearance of their chest. Enlarged male breasts do not result solely from a lack of exercise or poor diet. While these factors may contribute, amping up exercise and following a strict diet will not fix the problem. This is because gynecomastia is often re...lated to hormone changes, certain medications and alcohol use. The most straightforward solution to a more sculpted masculine chest is surgery. Each individual’s surgical plan is tailored to their exact needs. This includes incision placement. Plastic surgery has a transformative power, but that capacity requires that we make an incision in the skin. For many patients, being left with a scar can be a sticking point in their decision to undergo surgery. To address this concern, I like to emphasize that in the planning process I take into account minimizing the size and visibility of incision points as much as possible. Also, with proper post-op incision care, in the best case scenarios fully healed scars can be close to imperceptible.

What makes for a good breast lift candidate? For patients who are happy with their breast volume, but find their breasts have dropped and their shape has become less taut, a breast lift is a great option. There can be a small amount of volume loss that occurs when we remove excess skin to achieve a lift however, the appearance of fullness of the breasts is greatly improved, even with this incidental tissue removal. The outcome often has the aesthetic quality of a breast augmentation, but without the need for an implant.

Whats the difference between a Breast Lift and a Breast Reduction? These are the type of common questions we get on daily basis from prospective patients. It’s an important issue to address as it can lead to a lot of confusion as there is some similarities but some very important differences. ... A Breast Reduction and Breast lift often share very similar scar patterns (commonly described as lollipop or anchor) and both also help in placing the nipple in a more lifted position. Beyond that they have very different goals... A reduction is mostly for symptomatic relief of heavy pendulous breasts and as a result a very significant removal of breast tissue is done (often estimated at about 50-60% of the original volume). This can result in a large bra size change and thus the ability to fit into clothing more appropriately. A Breast lift goals are generally not volume orientated but rather more focused on a tightening of the skin envelope. Patients generally like their volume but desire only the lift portion of the procedure. Even with a skin only removal often you still get a minor decrease in volume (often estimated at 5-10% of the original volume) but a major improvement in breast fullness. Some surgeon’s (including me) goal is often to make a breast lift patient look like a breast augmentation patient. Need a book to read on a rainy day ? Recently Dr Somogyi recommended a book for me to read about the creation of the Four Seasons hotel chain. Its authored and written by its creator and hotelier Isadore Sharp. Ive been obsessively reading it over the weekend and suggest you do as well! Did you know that Four Seasons is a Toronto creation? It’s first location was on Jarvis and Carlton. Another fun fact about the Four Seasons is that it was the first hotel chain to start off...ering shampoo/conditioner and cotton towels with your room (Hard to think this was not the norm back in the day....) Four Seasons focused on setting itself apart from its competitors and it shows based on how its become an absolute commercial giant.
