Tax Preparation Assistance Starts March 24 Our volunteers work in partnership with Canada Revenue Agency to provide the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. This is for low-income individuals and families with simple tax requirements. The program runs weekday mornings only from March 24 to April 30, 2021.... This is a drop off and pick-up service, Monday-Friday mornings-830 am-1200 at JBCP, 547 Michigan. Once taxes are completed by a volunteer, participants will be advised and will need to make a pick- up appointment. There is no one on-site able to help with taxes. Blank packages are available in the JBCP lobby. To be eligible: single people must have an income under $35,000, couples an income under $45,000, and single parents must have an income under $35,000 plus $2,500 for each additional dependent. Volunteers do not prepare complex returns, such as returns for individuals who: have self-employment income; have business or rental income and expenses; have capital gains or losses; have employment expenses; file for bankruptcy; are deceased persons; have interest income of more than $1,000. James Bay Community Project asks you to donate. We need your help to continue helping others! Because of COVID-19, life is harder for many people. JBCP pivoted to deliver services to those asked to stay home. JBCP lost 20% of its income when The Community Closet Thrift Store had to temporarily close. JBCP’s annual campaign has raised a fraction of the usual amount.... It’s now time to ask directly: Please donate money to JBCP. You can print out the donation form on the JBCP website OR Go to www.jbcp.bc.ca/donate THANK YOU! See more

Sadly, the James Bay Community Project Community Closet Thrift Store is CLOSED until further notice, as of Friday, August 21. We tried numerous COVID-19 workarounds, but unfortunately keeping the COMMUNITY CLOSET THRIFT STORE open isn't currently viable. ... We hope that circumstances will allow us to reopen in the near future. Thank you for your understanding and support. KEEP AN EYE on the JBCP website and the Facebook page for updates. www.jbcp.bc.ca
