HI Ward 2. A quick message of appreciation to you for your support and your valuable insights as I head out for my Last Day on the doorsteps! Your positive energy has kept me inspired and motivated!

One of the things I’m most proud of in my first term on council happens outside of city hall. It’s the weekly Politics and Pancakes community conversation and breakfast that happens every Thursday morning at 8 am at Breezy Corners on Macdonell street here in the the Royal City. It has satisfied my craving for regular civic engagement and it seems to have become a valuable city resource. We often have up to 50 people there, from all political stripes- and there’s always a li...vely but civil discussion. I talked councillor Phil Allt into sharing the hosting duties with me - and it’s been going for a couple of years! At city hall it’s become a way to gauge public opinion. You often hear What are they saying at the Breezy Breakfast about this? It’s also become a breeding ground for delegates and advocated on many issues. Often during council meetings I’ll look at the delegate list and see that a large percentage of them have presented their ideas first at the breakfasts. We’ve had our MP, our MPP and MOST of the councillors attend too. When the campaign started, Phil and I, as candidates, passed the chairing duties on to local activist Tom Kleinbeernink who has kept a non-partisan tone to the proceedings. I’m so proud of Ward 2 today! We had the highest turnout in the city at the advanced polls- 7.6% of the eligible voters, 1082 people, came out to vote! We ARE a very engaged ward! It’s been a thrill on the doorsteps this week when the door opens and the resident smiles and says we already voted for you! Thanks Ward Twovians... you are da best!

Wow, I’m a terrible selfie taker. Anyway, a word about my signs. Happy to report that Daniel my sign captain has been on the case so there aren’t as many gaps from vandalism and theft on the boulevards. Thrilled with how many of you Ward Twovians have requested lawn signs. Delivering them is a task I’ve taken on myself as a treat at the end of a canvassing day. It’s like a little prize. Look, this person supports me and wants to tell their neighbours! I’m honoured. I plant... them carefully, do a little ‘turf-tamping’ folk dance, and sing the ancient ceremonial sign-planting ballad that calls on the Goddess of elections to bring a bountiful harvest of votes on E-Day next Monday. Thanks to my friend Racer Jenn for assembling the signs and preparing them for planting. They don’t require watering but some sunshine helps bring out their colourful display.
