Just a little pigeon postcard sized painting. I'll likely do a larger painting later, so I'm kind of thinking of this as more of a sketch for the bigger one. Photo reference supplied by Patty Martin. If you happened to see this guy in Wascana park recently, cue the Barry White sound track!... Softy (Sketch) 2021 oil paint sketch, on oil ground hard board panel 6"x4"

Also flying out very soon to The C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana. I'm very pleased to announce I made the cut for an event simply called, "The Russell". Held in August, it's been on my birdy bucket list for sometime. My oil painting, "Red-Tailed Hunter", was juried in. Very excited about this opportunity. Another piece that has only left the studio for framing and photography.

Bye, bye blackbird. This little painting will soon be flying away to to San Diego, CA to be part of the 7th Annual Crow Show held at The Studio Door. April 3rd-24th, 2021. Normally, I only enter the online portion of the exhibition. This year my piece will will physically be at the gallery. "Stardust" was created last year at the start of the pandemic and titled as such based on a lyric from Joni Mitchell's song, Woodstock. Thank you juror Andrew Utt, Executive Director of The Lux Art Institute for selecting my work, Patric Stillman, and all participating artists.

Autumn by James M. Clow oil paint on hand sanded gesso, cradled birch board panel, 12"x9" 2021... I'm calling this one done. The photo might be a little off with lighting, because.....uh...I did my own photography.

Just a heads up. Some of you had asked about possibility of prints of Roadside Attraction. I had told you that I'd keep you posted of any updates. I'm on my third set of proofs from three different companies. I'm getting close....I promise. Thanks for hanging in there.

As you may already know, my friend Paul Trottier's daughter, Mackenzie Trottier has been missing since just before Christmas. Many local people in the art community have banded together in support of Paul and his family. By way of fundraising and awareness campaigns through art auctions we are raising money. I will posting a piece up for auction soon. The piece is currently being matted and framed at Collector's Choice Art Gallery in Saskatoon. I'm donating the art for f...ree, and Anne Hardy of Collector's Choice is donating the matting and framing for free. I will ask the winning bidder to cover shipping and insurance, if they are not from the Saskatoon area. If they are near enough by, I can personally drop off the art to them at the end of the auction. The piece that should be coming up has a retail value of approximately $350.00 CDN. I won't be making a single penny, nor will Collector's Choice for this!!!! There is an account set up on Facebook specifically for this where the winning bidder can pay securely through an E-transfer. Stay tuned for the piece coming up. Thanks, James

I know it's been awhile since since I've posted anything new. I'm currently working this painting which is long and skinny. Actually 12" wide x 36" tall. It's for my own home and from my own reference pics. I'd share where I'm at on the piece, but I'm still working things out and I'm not happy with much of it. So a sneak peek (little chunk) is all I'm going to share.
