Happy Valentine’s Day to my love, Netflix. You are alway there for me. I love you even though I have no one to snuggle while watching you. I really love watching you. I might even be addicted to you. I love how I turn you on so easily and how I also turn you off but you don’t judge me. But seriously, thank you for being there for me until the wee hours of the morning when I needed you. Our family gatherings will be smaller this year, and socially distancedsomething unthinkable a year ago. But the gratitude in our hearts is no less! If anything, our gratitude can increase under these unusual circumstances. As we gather in smaller groups this year, the primary purpose of Thanksgiving is perhaps more important than ever: to be fully mindfu...l of all we have to be grateful for and to share our love and compassion with one another. What really counts, says David Steindl-Rast, is that we remember that everything is gratuitous; everything is a gift. The degree to which we are awake to this truth is the measure of our gratefulness. And gratefulness is the measure of our aliveness. We celebrate this Thanksgiving by going more deeply into our hearts, the inner home of gratitude, and connecting at this level to our loved ones, regardless of the physical or social distance between us.
