My Great Uncle Richard passed away a few weeks ago. I loved him so much. He lived in West Texas, where my dad lived, and often employed my dad when no one else would, I think because he had a soft spot for his nephew. Last time I visited, many years ago when they were both alive, Richard showed me this painting by my dad that hung in his home. I never knew my dad had painted anything! I loved it immediately, in all its trippy hippy desert Texan-ness. Dancing cacti. Insane tex...tures. Subtle shadows. How many cacti do you see? It's endless. Richard promised me when he passed that I could have the painting, but I never thought I would see it again. And yet, my incredible family unearthed it and mailed it to me. I am so, so grateful to them. And I can't wait to get this out of the plastic frame and into something more permanent. I'm thinking about using this old hand-carved cedar frame I bought in Mexico, even though it is a bit small. Memories.

Finished this one last week... or the week before?... it's all blurring together! So happy this one *finally* came together, it was for sure a complement to my obsessive nature. The original print was askew on the paper so it required some trimming, and then as we hung it on the wall to take final product shots, I didn't like the paper bubbling underneath the glass. So I took the whole thing apart and did it again. I'm so glad Tim Des Islets can appreciate being driven crazy by these sorts of things! Also, huge gratitude for being patient with me as I worked through my backlog to finish this. This sweet piece deserves a great home. I'm glad it has one with Michelle Kloepfer and that little babe Eloise! As ever, thank you Mark Staplehurst for the lovely photography.

Recently finished this earth goddess, in perfect time for spring! I like the jobs that aren't obvious. Another framer might have gone blue and black, or yellow and blue, the predominant shades in the picture, but this print had a lot of colour undertones that were brought out beautifully by the red in the moulding and green of the mat. Conceptually it makes more sense to have chosen earthy colours, and I'm glad our client agreed.

A personal project I finished recently, two tiny frames with personalized artwork. Every year at Christmas (yeah yeah, these are four months late I know) we write the girls a letter and incorporate it, somehow, into an ornament. This year I framed these hand-drawn monograms and silhouettes into 2x3" frames and put a pocket on the back for the letters. At this rate, I should probably start working on next year's ornament but the girls don't know the difference, they would be quite happy for every day to be Christmas! Cost for this, by the way, would have been $20. Quite affordable for a gift, no? You could frame a lock of hair, a seed, a feather, a stamp, the possibilities are endless. Tiny things are the best.

When Michaels can't/won't, I say there's no harm trying. They didn't want to recut a mat to make an opening bigger, but for this project it was totally worth trying to salvage the material for a simple project. So glad it worked out. Thanks for stopping by today Lisa Goodman, glad I could help. Carter is one lucky baba to have a mama who is so thoughtful (and also ON it our girls still don't have anything on their walls yet! The cobbler's shoes...)
