It is hard to believe that it has already been 11 years since Whistler played host to the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. One of the most iconic physical legacies of the games wasn't even there during the actual event. The temporary Whistler Medals Plaza played host to nightly concerts and Olympic Medal Ceremonies for Whistler's events as well as the Paralympic Games' Closing Ceremony. The programming was unforgettable but the real magic happened when $13.6 mi...llion was spent for the site’s post-Games conversion. The temporary asphalt area was replaced with wide green lawns and the partially covered outdoor pavilion that doubles as both an ice rink in the winter and a performance venue. The legacy Olympic rings you see in my post photo taken by M were also installed as well as Whistler's Olympic Cauldron designed by Bombardier. Leave your favourite #whistlerolympic memory below so we can all relive some of the magic of that amazing season in our little town!

Every year is unique, but 2020 was truly unlike anything we’ve ever experienced in the Canadian real estate market. No one could have predicted that a pandemic would sweep across Canada, slowing the market initially and then driving prices upward in many regions - including ours, the Sea to Sky. Trying to foresee where things are headed is pretty much impossible, but here are some trends I'll be watching over the next 12 months. If all five of these trends continue, it shoul...d be a very busy year for Canadian real estate. A steady increase in home prices Detached homes will be in high demand Monthly home sales numbers will fluctuate less Mortgage rates will remain depressed Potential rental resurgence in cities could change trends. I'll be keeping an eye on real estate trends very closely in 2021, especially given how fast we’ve seen things change in the last year. Low-interest rates could be the glue that holds many of these trends together, so buyers and sellers, should watch what The Bank of Canada is doing and plan accordingly.

Meet the Neighbours Jeff Thomas - Pemberton Glen Q. What do you do? A. I'm an Outdoor and Adventure Video Producer... Q. How long have you called the Sea to Sky region home? A. 15+ years Q. What do you love the most about living in Pemberton? A. The proximity of the mountains to the ocean and to the city. It is an area with a mix of like-minded individuals and families in an area that has a dynamic climate and incredible views. For what I do for work, it is one of the few places I can work without having to travel but also be close enough to the airport and other regions when travel is required. Q. What makes your neighbourhood an awesome place to call home? A. The people, the view, and the proximity to town. There are only a few places I have travelled that matches what we have here in Pemberton. You can be sitting in your front yard/deck having a beer watching your family play and you might have friends in the neighbourhood join in at a moment's notice. Everyone is friendly and watches out for one another. Q. Can you share an insider tip about your community? A. Being that I spend a lot of my winter in search of "secret powder stashes" I would have to say Callaghan Country and the Journeyman Lodge are the hidden gems of the Sea to Sky Region. If you love great ski touring (or snowshoeing/Nordic skiing) I would spend a few nights up at the lodge. Throw in some beers at Coast Mountain Beer or the most "scenic" beer in the region with a pint around a fire at The Beer Farmers and you're having a pretty good day.
