Check out this site in Brazil and think about the next hamburgers and soy that you consume. I have also seen palm oil growing in Malaysia by the thousands of acres. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-55130304

Points to Ponder #9 (final for the moment) To wrap up this section on my Page, I want to ask you to ponder this large invitation: take an interest on what goes on in this province; its representatives badly need thoughtful and respectful feedback and don’t be afraid to ask the questions that you want answers to. This is an important part of what elected members do every day with or without Covid-19. Please get out and vote tomorrow morning or afternoon!

Points to Ponder #8 Education is a big topic! I will focus on the online work that my Grade 5, 3 and Primary grandchildren’s schools. The materials online by April were the rudimentary version of online courses. Most teachers need training in how to use the technology platform they must work in. All platforms are similar but they need to be explored and standardized as to how to organize the course, so the students can become familiar with the technology in a few weeks. The c...apabilities of these systems are not always easy to work with and there needs to be a trial period for teachers to ramp up their curriculum content. This means they need support from not only technical specialists but from instructional designers who know how to set up courses. They are the main supports that every teacher needs, especially in the first semester. The government must provide this support for teachers with the development of their skills and confidence with the tools in their toolbox. I noticed an inordinate amount of YouTube use that tended to go on, and on and on particularly in the early grades. These were my observations in the March June period of open elementary schools. Our government needs to invest in our teachers before they leave the profession. What are we waiting for? See more
