A lot has changed in the wedding industry since I first started shooting wedding 7 years ago. This shift is not only due to the pandemic but also due to many couples desire to do something differently. Not everyone resonates with the idea of a big traditional wedding, and that's OKAY! For the more introverted among us the idea of a 100 person guest list and a big party can bring up more stress than excitement. Who wants that on their wedding day?! ... In fact, as much as I have loved photographing weddings of ALL sizes, my secret favorites have always been the most intimate ones The ones with the smallest of guests lists, but the biggest of hearts. The ones where the couple has been totally free to enjoy their day to it's fullest without having to adhere to a ridge timeline in order to "fit it all in". The ones with more presence of mind, than presents on a gift table. Who else gets more excited by planning experiences than worrying about things? If this sounds like you and your love shoot me a DM and I can help guide you in planning a totally true-to-you intimate wedding experience today! See more

Ever wonder how couples keep themselves toasty warm during their outdoor winter elopements, wedding days or photo shoots? On the blog today I have compiled a list of my Top 10 favourite ways for couples to keep warm during their winter photos without detracting from their images. Lets kick it off with Tip #1: ... Get yourself a stylish winter coat. There are lots of options that pair perfectly with elopement attire. For example a Pea Coat, a Toggle & Duffle Coat or a Cape Coat are all excellent choices to layer over top of either a wedding dress or suit. Shawls and furs (real or faux) are also great alternatives to layer with. For the complete list of suggestions click the link in my bio! See more

Helicopter tours are a popular way to propose in a mountain town like Whistler. But what do you need to know before booking yours? Up on the blog today I talk about the top 7 Things to Consider When Planning a Helicopter Proposal in the mountains. For instance, did you know that you can extend the amount of landing time you have up there? ... Most helicopter companies include a standard 15mins of landing time once your reach your destination. But 15min can feel a bit rushed when you are planning on proposing to your partner in such a spectacular place. Opt for an additional 15mins to ensure that you can make the most of this once in a lifetime experience! Not everything goes according to plan, and you know what, that’s okay! J and I had been in touch for weeks trying to find the perfect way for him to propose to S. The two of them are huge outdoor fans with a love of adventure and have already done so many amazing things together, so J was determined that his proposal had to be BIG. Like helicopter to the glacier, then jumping off the bungee bridge big! But it turns out the Mother Nature had a different agenda that day. With... a week full of stormy skies and low hanging cloud in Whistler it didn’t look like J’s grand plans were going to be able to happen. We were grounded. We postponed the original shoot date, held our breaths and crossed our fingers that the weather would clear before the end of their trip. Well the week dragged on and the clouds hung around. Those big plans weren’t going to happen. So I asked J if it was more important to him to pop the question in the way he envision, or more important to be engaged to the woman he loved right now. We put our heads together to come up with a Plan B. A new location, a new cover story, and a new approach. I’ve been taking ukulele lessons J told me, Do you think it would be a good idea if I sung her a song? Hell yes!!! I said. I think she would love that. J hid his ukulele in a garbage bag in the back of his car and a dapper bow tie and vest under his jacket and off he went to propose to his love on the edge of Green Lake. Life is not perfect. Plans are not perfect. We are not perfect. But if you go with the flow and adapt it will all work out in the end! Proposal season is upon us and if you or someone you know is looking to get engaged to their love over the holidays hit the CONTACT ME button in my profile to start making your Plan A, Plan B and maybe even Plan C today

Pro Tip for getting excellent results during your photo session... Be yourselves! At the start of my career I would have couples show up to a session and expect to just stand there and stare at the camera with cardboard smiles. They were uncomfortable, they were stiff, and that reflected in the images we created. ... Through my 7 years of experience I have learned that the best photos are created when couples feel relaxed, joyful and full of love. However, it can be hard to get to that place when you have someone you've never met pointing a camera at you. That is why I now strive to get to know all my clients on a more personal level before the shoot even happens! The first step in the client process consists of a few get to know you questions on my contact page. Next we schedule a time to have a video call. Having a client meeting through video gives us all the benefit of feeling more connected to each other even before we meet in person. After that I collaborate with you on all the details of the shoot and make myself available to any questions you may have before the shoot takes place. By this point we have talked and had so much contact with each other that when the shoot finally arrives you won't feel like there is a stranger there, but instead a friend. Are you ready to have a friend capture photos of you and your love being your best, truest selves? Click the link in my bio and contact me today! See more

Tip #5 for getting married during a pandemic & still keeping your friends & family involved: GIVE THEM A TOAST No matter where you are, top of a mountain, beside a lake, both at once (alpine lakes for the win!) you can always keep your family and friends in your hearts. Even when they can't physically be preset you can still have a toast in their honour. ... Bonus points for getting a of it, then using that image on cards to send out with well wishes to them!
