Saturdays are for "Little Lessons" where we'll give you a quick riding tip from Janine!! Today's Little Lesson: When you feel the horse stiffen up in the neck and mouth it is a direct reflexion of stiffness under your leg in the ribcage and the back. To counter act this, whenever you feel like pulling or over flexing the neck instead leg yield the horse a bit side to side to help loosen up the ribcage and the back, when the ribcage and back are softer the neck and mouth will follow.

How do we keep that beautiful mane of Ebony’s in top shape? Lots of shampoo, conditioner, braiding elastics and an extra dose of TLC #spaday

Today's Little Lesson: In order to ensure that you aren’t holding tension in your upper arms imagine the feeling you have when you’re walking down the street with your hands in your pockets, your arms hang relaxed at your side with the weight easily down into a softly flexed elbow. This is the relaxation you want to have in your arms when riding.

It’s a sad week for Little Dressage as we had to say goodbye to our legendary little man Oswald who has been the most perfect mascot anyone could ever ask for and a huge part of our family. RIP Oswald, until we meet again, you’ll never be forgotten and a huge piece of our hearts have gone with you

Janine was teaching in Guelph this past weekend, many thanks to all the riders as well as Janet Ferguson for organizing and Stetson and Graestone Farms for hosting! Jimmy Ray also met some new clinic friends! Janine’s clinic schedule for the upcoming weeks is full full but looking like she’ll be back in Guelph toward end of Oct or early Nov, message if you’re interested in upcoming dates!

Janine just finished up another fantastic clinic in Saskatoon-this has been a dedicated group of riders who are committed to their ongoing education through their clinic series with Janine and we love seeing the pictures and hearing their reviews!! Janine's clinic calendar for the rest of September and October is busy busy and we can't wait to see more pics and reviews!! :D

We shipped beautiful Cadillac back home to his owner Linda in Massachusetts today after spending the spring and summer in young horse training in Canada at Little Dressage, we've loved having Cadillac here and we'll look forward to working with Linda and Cadillac again in the future and can't wait to see them progress together as a partnership!!

Working Student Opportunity!! Little Dressage is still searching for the right person to add to our team! Looking for a working student with a long-term interest in the business (someone who can ideally be mentored into an assistant trainer/coach with time). Must be a self motivated hard worker who loves to be in the barn with an attention to detail and a willingness to learn. This is a fantastic opportunity for an up and comer to learn with FEI Grand Prix coach/trainer Ja...nine Little who is a self made professional coach/trainer in the industry as well as having an extensive background in horsemanship and stable management. Janine specializes in training horses and riders from green broke to Grand Prix (Janine has coached various young riders who have medalled at NAJYRCs in the past and has had numerous horses listed to the Canadian team that she has brought up from green broke to the FEI levels). Working student will gain experience in all areas from stable management and grooming to in-hand work and receive lessons. Applicant must be willing to travel and have access to their own vehicle (accommodation can be provided though ideal if applicant has their own accommodation in Canada, during Canadian season we are located in Brockville, Ontario. Little Dressage is located in Florida during winter months where accommodation on site is provided). Numerous excellent references to past working students/grooms available! We shipped lovely Fiona back home yesterday after a super 2.5 months in training, we’ll miss seeing her beautiful face at the barn everyday but look forward to continuing to work with her and her owner via the magic of online lessons and seeing their progression!
