40% of Canadians have a mortgage that is greater than 200K, I'm definitely in this camp. Raise your hand if you're with me! It's hard to know (with interest rates being so low) if you should pay off debt or save/invest. My answer is always both. I think you have to do what your comfotable with but if you can do both you should.... Paying down your mortgage means that you'll get to debt free faster, and you'll be able to keep more of your money in your bank account each month. Will you make an extra payment towards your debt in 2020? Comment if 'yes and if 'no' #financialliteracy #financialliteracymonth #canadianpersonalfinance #millennialmoney #approachablewealth #personalfinanceforwomen #personalfinancetips #getrichslow #getrichyoung #investinyourself #wealthywomen #moneymotivation #financewomen #thefutureisfemale #womenempoweringwomen #womenwithaplan #millennialmillionaire #womenandmoney #savingsplan #investingcanada #moneymanagement #financialfreedom #financialstressrelief #moneyaffirmations #pinktax #financialfeminist #thefinancialfeminist #femmefinance #financialliteracymonth2020 #flm2020

As of 2019 household debt in Canada hit 177%. To calculate this you take the total debt you owe divided by your after tax income. The lower you can get this number the better, but if you're just bought a home it's likely that this number is going to be much higher than the average Canadian. Since we just bought a home ours is definitely north of 200%, probably even north of 250%. We don't stress about it, but it's good to see where you stand against the average. Income (one ...vs two) is also going to dictate how high this number is. Do you have any clue wht your debt to income number is? #financialliteracy #financialliteracymonth #canadianpersonalfinance #millennialmoney #approachablewealth #personalfinanceforwomen #personalfinancetips #getrichslow #getrichyoung #investinyourself #wealthywomen #moneymotivation #financewomen #thefutureisfemale #womenempoweringwomen #womenwithaplan #millennialmillionaire #womenandmoney #savingsplan #investingcanada #moneymanagement #financialfreedom #financialstressrelief #moneyaffirmations #pinktax #financialfeminist #thefinancialfeminist #femmefinance #financialliteracymonth2020 #flm2020

With 2021 right around the corner I think we are all feeling frustrated with how 2020 went. Maybe you didn't make as much money as you were hoping, or a stream of income dried up and you needed dip into your savings. You could have had to take on more debt, or paused your investment contributions to make ends meet. Know that this season is temporary. You will get through this and it's okay to change your financial plans and goals for the new year. So tell me - what's one fin...ancial goal you're committing to in 2021? #financialliteracy #financialliteracymonth #canadianpersonalfinance #millennialmoney #approachablewealth #personalfinanceforwomen #personalfinancetips #getrichslow #getrichyoung #investinyourself #wealthywomen #moneymotivation #financewomen #thefutureisfemale #womenempoweringwomen #womenwithaplan #millennialmillionaire #womenandmoney #savingsplan #investingcanada #moneymanagement #financialfreedom #financialstressrelief #moneyaffirmations #pinktax #financialfeminist #thefinancialfeminist #femmefinance #financialliteracymonth2020 #flm2020

Where do you fall when it comes to statistics like this? The second theme of financial literacy month is to commit to a spending plan. Now it's no surprise that I really don't like to budget, but allocating your resources to the areas you value can be and incredibly useful excercise when it comest to making sure you aren't spending more than you earn. That being said, this November we really are living in unprescedented times. If you are spending more than you make right now... because of COVID-19, know that this is temporary and won't last forever. #financialliteracy #financialliteracymonth #canadianpersonalfinance #millennialmoney #approachablewealth #personalfinanceforwomen #personalfinancetips #getrichslow #getrichyoung #investinyourself #wealthywomen #moneymotivation #financewomen #thefutureisfemale #womenempoweringwomen #womenwithaplan #millennialmillionaire #womenandmoney #savingsplan #investingcanada #moneymanagement #financialfreedom #financialstressrelief #moneyaffirmations #pinktax #financialfeminist #thefinancialfeminist #femmefinance #financialliteracymonth2020 #flm2020
