We have started our gardens! I am too excited. This year, I am determined to get a harvest of green beans and pickling cukes to pickle and hopefully enough tomatoes and peppers to make salsa. I put them in too early and they got almost wiped out by frost :( A trip to the garden centre may be in the schedule for today!
We have waited long enough and today we will finally plant some seeds starts indoors for our gardens! We have waited long enough and today we will finally plant some seeds starts indoors for our gardens!
Sadly, we found out (finally, after waiting for a response from the city for over a month) that we are not zoned for accommodation . However, Les Jardins des Brises is still a huge part of our dream to build gardens and create an oasis at home. Everything happens for a reason! The future holds so many opportunities for our little homestead!
So far I have growing: tomatoes, red peppers, broccoli, echinacea, onions, radishes, romaine lettuce, basil, raspberries, rhubarb and leeks. Today I planted more seeds indoors: red chili peppers, pumpkins, pickling cukes, zucchini, ground cherries, lavender, borage, cilantro, watermelon and kale. When its warmer and I have good soil, I'll plant beans, peas, beets, more radishes, squash, sunflowers....what else....? I'm going to buy apple trees. Maybe plum and a nut tree. Blueberries. I heard hazelberts make good hedges. People tell me not to grow too much but I do what I want
Transplanted some babies today while the snow still falls outside.
