Unconventional tools. . Avoid getting stuck in one way of training. We are dynamic beings and the ways in which we can move and challenge our bodies are endless. Progress can be stifled if we limit ourselves to the same patterns of movement and resistance. . Thread in the use of different tools into your training. Break through plateaus, learn something new. Play. . Make fitness a part of your lifestyle and your daily living. . Regimented, programmed, progressive training is important to target specific objectives, but it should’t stop there.... . Ultimately, our time in the gym is to keep us fit and healthy so we can use our bodies outside of the gym how we want, when we want, just for the sake of moving our bodies. So make sure you do! . Include movement throughout your day. It can still be intentional, but let it first be for the joy of moving, simple and without expectation or planned outcome. Random, playful, and spontaneous. . Father’s Day reflections. . Fatherhood has been one of life’s greatest gifts with unending reward. I embrace all the challenges and relish the triumphs along the way. My two daughters have led me to grow in ways that I’m sure I would have never known without them. They are my absolute joy, and I’m grateful, in every moment, to be a part of their lives. . I feel so fortunate for the powerful role model that my father was and continues to be. Each time fatherhood enters new te...rritory, I realize again how much I draw from my experiences growing up, and how his parenting positively influences and informs my own along the way. Thank you Dad. . I am complete as a father with the unwavering support and strength I receive from Sophie, my partner in life and parenting, that she offers me every day - there is no other that I’d rather share this wild ride with! . Sora & Tai, I’m in constant awe of your open and generous hearts, your inquisitiveness, capacity to learn, expanding minds, creativity, sense of humour, and thoughtfulness. I will guide and support you in every way I know how, as you continue to explore and discover your individuality, and flourish into the outstanding humans that you are. And when I’m unable to, I hope you will know I will always be there in an instant, the moment you may need me, as a Dad to lean on and listen, as you navigate the uneven terrain of life. The future looks bright with you both in it! . Here’s to all the dad’s that inspire happiness, health, and positivity into their children’s lives, tirelessly showing up every day. @ Courtenay, British Columbia See more

Take care of your heart. It takes care of you. . Every year your heart beats MILLIONS of times all day, all night, all the time, non-stop... The number on the photo is, roughly, how often my heart beats in just one year, given a 52bpm resting heart rate. Over 27 million times! That's a little unnerving to consider . A healthy resting heart rate is between 60-80bpm. Anything below, achieved through training, is a bonus, and anything above starts to become a concern.... . Your heart is your life support, arguably the most important muscle in the body, and should be trained like any other - consistently and effectively. With proper training your heart grows in strength, size, and volume, which results in greater cardiac output per heart beat, plus the tissues and cells become more efficient at exchanging oxygen, nutrients and hormones, as well as carbon dioxide and other metabolic waste. Therefore, the better your fitness, the fewer times your heart needs to beat to get its work done. . If your resting heart rate can be lowered by 20bpm, your heart would beat 10.5 million times less in a year!!! . That’s significant. . Exercise your heart. Lower your resting heart rate. Give your heart a break. . Just sayin’. See more
