The Residents of Elizabeth Centre Long Term Care Home would like to extend their thanks to the creative students of Jean-Paul II Elementary School, who flooded the Home with sweet Easter cards and messages! Your efforts brought smiles to all and we are so grateful for your kindness!

Another day, another outstanding art class at Leacock Retirement Lodge! Check out these beautiful little masterpieces that were created using dried flowers. There is certainly no lack of skill or creativity at Leacock!

A BIG SHOUT OUT to the Wasaga Beach Fire Department for rescuing a 'snagged' flag pole at Waterside Retirement Lodge! The Residents cheered as the new Canadian flag was raised and extended their thanks to all those who made this possible. We are so grateful to be part of the Town of Wasaga Beach and appreciate how the community is always willing to help each other out!

Residents of The Villa Retirement Lodge were delighted to participate in a Butter Tart Social and to indulge in homemade tarts baked by a Team Member who was pleased to see the smiles on all of the Residents' faces. A BIG THANK YOU to Laurie for her "sweet" contribution to the Lodge!

Can you tell which hockey team The Villa Care Centre cheers for?! This week, the Team wore their colours with pride as they showed their love for the Toronto Maple Leafs!

The Residents of Royal Rose Place Long Term Care Home are always game for a creative activity. In addition to receiving their second COVID-19 vaccines, the Home hosted a game of "COVID Crush," which had Residents practicing their aim to "crush the virus." Those who successfully hit all three targets received a coveted COVID Crush Medal! A BIG THANK YOU to the Royal Rose Place Team who is always finding unique ways to engage their Residents.

The Residents of Avalon Care Centre will receive a heartfelt treat this Valentine's Day! Thanks to the efforts of the Orangeville community, each Resident will receive a handmade card from a local child. Inter-generational programs are a cornerstone of our Life Enrichment and Recreation Programs at our Long Term Care Homes and Retirement Lodges. With the advent of the Pandemic, we have had to press pause on these events, however, our students and young friends continue to find meaningful ways to connect with our Residents. Thank you to everyone who made this sweet gesture possible.

The Residents of The Villa Retirement Lodge chose to beat those winter blues with a celebration full of life and colour! This week, the Lodge travelled to New Orleans where they feasted on an authentic Creole lunch, participated in Mardi Gras Bingo and crafted their own dazzling masks to wear with their famous Mardi Gras beads! There's never a dull moment at The Villa!

An incredibly touching note received by the Team at Elizabeth Centre Long Term Care Home. Caring for others is truly what gives each of us purpose in life and it is clear the Elizabeth Centre Team has been able to extend their kindness and compassion to Residents and Family Members alike. We are so proud to call Elizabeth Centre part of our extended Jarlette Health Services Family.

Although 2020 has brought with it some significant changes, it has not put a damper on the holiday spirit at Temiskaming Lodge Long Term Care Home! Unable to host their regular Children's Christmas Party, we think they found a pretty creative way to maintain the tradition!

Let's hear it for the outstanding Team at Leacock Retirement Lodge! While it has been a challenging year, this group of dedicated and passionate Team Members always goes above and beyond for their Residents. We are so proud of you and all you do!

Now that's what we call festive attire! Last week, Residents of Waterside Retirement Lodge celebrated National Christmas Sweater Day (December 18th) and their outfits certainly did not disappoint. We might have to crown this group "Best Dressed" this year!

This past week, Residents and Team Members of Bayfield House Retirement Lodge pulled out all the stops and hosted their 50th Anniversary Gold Party to help celebrate Jarlette Health Services' milestone moment. While 2020 certainly is unlike any other, our Long Term Care Homes and Retirement Lodges across the province have not let circumstances dull the shine on this momentous golden anniversary!

Another installment of "Jenny's Journal" from Waterside's resident Parrot! Jenny: "Even this stormy weather won't bring these Residents down! Despite driving snow and grey skies, Residents took to an art class and painted beautiful nature scenes with more colours than a Toucan (it has we wondering if I should migrate south for the winter). I can't wait to see what other beautiful masterpieces these talented artists create next!"

Temiskaming Lodge Long Term Care Home has been bustling with events and activities as of late! Last week, the Culinary Team prepared an authentic fish fry for the Residents to enjoy. The delicious meal featured beer-battered White Fish served up hot and crispy with fries and coleslaw. The Residents were wow-ed by this special lunch and look forward to more themed culinary adventures.

Thank you to our dedicated Team Members at Elizabeth Centre and those supporting our Residents across the province. Each and every one of you makes an outstanding difference in the lives of others and we are proud to call you part of the Jarlette Health Services Family.

It was a black-tie affair at Royal Rose Place Long Term Care Home, as Residents and Team Members came together to honour their Making A Difference Award Resident Recipient, Nancy Farr and Roberta Jarlette Team Member Nominee, Holly Potter! This is just one of 21 individual Making A Difference Award celebrations that are taking place at all of our Long Term Care Homes and Retirement Lodges across the province this month. We are so grateful for the outstanding contributions made by the wonderful Residents and Team Members we have the privilege to work with and care for!

We continue to be inspired by the creativity demonstrated by our Team Members during these unprecedented times, and Avalon Care Centre is certainly no exception! Take a look at this unique and interactive infection prevention and control education resource that Thara Manauf created. Residents can now learn through sight and touch as they pin the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) on Pete! Great work Team Avalon!

Prost! It was three cheers for Oktoberfest for the Residents and Team Members of Temiskaming Lodge Long Term Care Home yesterday! In the spirit of the season, the Home put on a dazzling affair complete with traditional dirndls and lederhosen, a sumptuous feast featuring Bavarian sausages, sauerkraut, "beer" and ginger ale and some traditional Oktoberfest music to boot! Everyone enjoyed learning about this fun-filled German experience and delighted in time spent together enjoying the festivities.

With the appropriate safety measures in place, the Residents of Bayfield House Retirement Lodge were able to rock the house with some upbeat entertainment!

Did you know October 12th marked National Farmers Day? The Residents and Team Members of Roberta Place Long Term Care Home sure did, and they took a moment to acknowledge this special day while giving thanks to all of the local Farmers who are integral in providing our province with delicious and nutritious food!

October 8th, 2020 marked a milestone moment at Bayfield House Retirement Lodge, as Resident, Tillie Bennette celebrated her 100th birthday! In addition to welcoming Family Members to the Lodge, Tillie also hosted a virtual party with other loved ones from all over the world. It was an honour to be part of her BIG day and we hope you will join us in extending another heartfelt HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Tillie!

Waterside Retirement Lodge is so thankful for their dedicated Team who always go above and beyond to bring laughter, joy, peace and care to the Lodge. To celebrate Thanksgiving, Waterside made their very own wine to gift to every Volunteer and Employee. Everyone had the opportunity to taste-test the Waterside Reserve Pinot Grigio and the Shiraz so they could choose their favourite and enjoy it during their Thanksgiving meal. Three cheers for commitment and teamwork!

Let's hear it for the Team at The Villa Retirement Lodge! The Recreation Department has always been top-notch and we are thrilled to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate their engaging and meaningful efforts once again! We are so proud to have you as part of our extended Jarlette Health Services Family.

The Residents and Team Members of Bayfield House Retirement Lodge are also excited to partner with the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre for their "Paint The Town Pink" campaign! Pumpkins have been done up in style and will be available for $20.00 each, with all proceeds benefiting the Support Centre and the meaningful and life-saving work they do in the community.

As you know, the Residents of Stayner Care Centre love to embrace the changing seasons with themed painting classes. Last week, they wasted no time in capturing Mother Nature's beauty and bounty with an Autumn farm scene! These works of art are sure to add a pop of colour to the Home.

In the spirit of the season of thanks, the Team at Meadow Park Chatham Long Term Care Home would like to take the opportunity to express their gratitude for the Residents, Family Members and Team Members who enrich life at the Home with their support, optimism and unwavering dedication. In addition, they would like to extend their thanks to the wonderful Students of their neighbouring school, UCC (The Pines). These committed and compassionate individuals have donated their time to help clean the windows of the Long Term Care Home and spruce up the gardens for everyone to enjoy. We are so grateful for these future leaders and look forward to many more years of this rewarding community partnership.

The Villa Retirement Lodge is thrilled to announce that they have teamed up with the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre as part of their "Paint the Town Pink" initiative! Pink pumpkins arrived at the Lodge last week and Residents were quick to get decorating! All proceeds from the sale of each pumpkin will benefit world-class breast cancer research projects and life-changing services offered through the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Center. We are so grateful to be part of the Midland community and to be able to participate in the unique and meaningful programs that support so many living in North Simcoe and beyond!
