This cute little thing My friend Dana @sunshinecrossstitch made this of our humble home, and I just love that it makes me smile! This is our first home. It’s not much, but it’s our first home together. We’ve been through quite a bit within these walls in the last 7 years, and it’s made us more compassionate individuals and couple, and a stronger family now.... Feeling grateful

Leeland made a friend on his own!! I know that sounds funny, but we have been living in a pretty small bubble since he was 9 months. He wasn’t mobile yet when we were allowed to go out, then the world went into lockdown for a long time, so we haven’t seen friends in a long time. This weekend, Hubs and I took him to the park to soak up all that vitamin D. When we got to the park, another parent said, Is that Leeland?... Apparently, he had made a friend during one of his park visits with our caretakers during the week. They are the same age with the same birth month, and are the same size. All I have to say is, it was literally the cutest thing seeing Leeland play with his friend. And by play, I mean follow each other around This mama is so proud and happy Wearing my @nestinthecity mama bird tee. Use dori15 at their shop til the end of March :)

Ink. On paper. It doesn’t seem like much, but through the process of calligraphing these words, it carries on the life of the words. And once it’s gifted, the story of these words is magnified, creating yet another sweet memory to treasure for days and years to come. This is why I love, love, love calligraphy. It’s the precious and sacred stories held between the inky thick and thin strokes. It’s how they are one-of-a-kind ... Congratulations, Charlie’s mom! I bet Charlie is laughing lots and starting to sit on his own now :) Side note: Yes, I can backdate anything!

How much time do I get for calligraphy and art? This was one of the things that took me a while to get used to since my son was born. My creative time was chopped up into bits, and sprinkled here and there during naps. In a decent week, I’d have a combined total of 2 hours, in 20-30 minute chunks. It’s not a lot, and it’s so strange to leave a project unfinished... but I’m grateful to even have a little bit of time to do what I love.... Oh hi! It’s Dori, your friendly neighbourhood calligrapher and artist I’ve taken a break from this grid for a while, because the last few months were tough on me as a teacher, a germophobe, and rule follower. I am learning to take it one day at a time, and focusing my energy on things I can control.... As a seeker of pretty things, though, I haven’t stopped appreciating the beauty right in front of me, off the screen. And of course, I’ve been making some pretty things, too, that will be shared with you very soon! So, I’m here. I’m glad you’re here. Let’s catch up! Tell me a recent encounter with something pretty :) I recently found a bag of @caramunchies in my snack drawer. It was the prettiest thing... and definitely the happiest + tastiest moment of my day!
