Stage #2. Raymond Robinson's 40 year old Specialized Stumpjumper complete rebuild project was stripped of all parts. The remaining paint was cleaned with ultra fine steel wool with oils to pull dirt out of the original paint and bring back the color. Next a alcohol cleaning to remove the built in dirt and oils etc. 2 coats of clear coating to seal and protect the remaining original paint and decals and providing a luster once again. This bike has seen some action and when I r...eceived it it was missing both derailers, a broken shifter, worn crank and bent wheels. I spent a couple of hours searching my bins for the period correct components. And have it all thanks to recycling bicycles within our community. Next week I will post some stages of the reassembly processes and finally the resurrection. Till next week. Stay safe for yourself and for others. See more

Deryl Kelly picked up his retro 1987-88 Gary Fisher mountain bike for winter commuting. Studded tires and all. Everything came from recycling bicycles and parts from our community for the build.

Saving bicycles left behind from seasonal workers can be saved from going into our local landfill. They can be refurbished and reused then resourced back into our community as a environmentally safe and healthy source of transportation for seasonal workers and locals to enjoy. This also increasing services and sales within the retail sectors. It contributes to motivation within the sectors by providing a simple way of exploration for sightseeing and just out to enjoy a dinn...er at one of Jasper's great venues. Let's not forget about mental health and wellness for everyone in needs. Cycling is know to be the #1 most effective way to create health and wellness. Let's make 2021 a positive comeback for all. I will be here to help by providing bicycles to anyone in need. Stay safe for yourself and others within these sensitive times. Christopher Isbister Jasper Bike Rescue See more

It was 2015 and I was approached by the local Health and Wellness Care Home Centre in Banff National Park to maintain specifically the first in Canada a Quad electric assisted bicycle for special needs and seniors with limited abilities/mobility and health and wellness. At a cost of 21,000$ for the bicycle built In Sweden it was important to upkeep this in tip top shape everyday for safety and most of all for all that it was built to do. I literally seen seniors and others life's become better because they were able to get out and enjoy a bicycle ride again. Priceless.

JBR not only refurbishes bikes locally, but sometimes finds the bicycle collective market a great fundamental in preserving vintage bicycles where they need to be and restored. Here is a 1986 laserlite 300 Kuwahara complete. A vintage collector from BC was missing this one model from his 150+ restored collection of bmx bikes from this name brand company alone. We found the right home for this one. It took me two weeks to decide to part with this bike. I was a BMX freest...yle proffesional back in 1986 and it was the bike model and year I had ridden for many bicycle stunt shows. Trippy. See more

Some bikes that I have had the privilege and honor to refurbish for locals. I have trouble finding the words for now, but would like to share the photos. Beautiful works of cycling craftsmanship as well as the individuals that own these vintage art projects.

I would like to share some of the projects with our community and newcomers this past cycling and recycling season we have achieved here at JBR. This 2002 Specialized M4 World Race XC bike was donated for parts but I felt like it needed to live again. I stripped it down to the bones and gave it a clean and two coats of polish. From there rebuilding it to the period racing components from its time. The current owners could not wait to see and receive the final outcome. ... I know they were very impressed and happy. If you would like to view more about these special projects from start to finish along with a short story, comment to Jasper Bike Rescue. Christopher Isbister Jasper Bike Rescue
