Since the onset of the COVID pandemic, speech-language pathologists have shifted to conducting assessments with children online. Researchers at University of Alberta are conducting a study to learn about the accuracy of these online language assessments. They are inviting children between the ages of 3 1/2 - 6 1/2, with and without communication disorders, to participate. Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists' use of telehealth in clinical assessment: Learning about children’s language virtually has been approved by the Health Research Ethics Board

This year the acknowledged right is: Article 12 'You have the right to give your opinion, and for adults to listen and take it seriously.' (In summary, Children deserve to be SEEN and HEARD). https://www.nationalchildday.ca/
November 20, 2020 is National Child Day. Wear 'blue' to celebrate and support it! "We know that before children ever speak a single word, they have a voice. They have opinions. When babies cry, they are showing us how they feel about something. When a child picks up a drum, they are telling us, look what I can make happen. When thousands of youth join in a march to our legislature grounds, they clearly have something to say. In each of these examples, children are inviting... adults in. They are asking to engage with us. To be in a relationship with us. We need to listen. When we choose to walk alongside children when we explore and learn with children, rather than doing things to or for them we are saying very loudly and very clearly that they matter. That what they do and say has value". By Dr. Tricia Lirette, Chair, Department of Human Services and Early Learning, MacEwan University https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kSZ6KwsxTM&feature=youtu.be
