Finally got our 2020 hens in for the winter. Lots of space, and access to an outdoor run. Next spring they will be back out in the movable eggmobiles, eating grass, bugs and whatever else takes their fancy. Certified organic eggs on the horizon!

Spend Friday morning (and much of the afternoon) with Mr Organic Inspector. A few details needed sorting out. They never let you get away with a perfect score. But, confident we are on our way for another year.

Did everything wrong with this stupid organic grazing corn. Seeded late, with a grain drill, no added fertilizer, missed all opportunities for weed control due to wet weather. Still going...

We are fully restocked on regular and maple breakfast sausages (gluten free) and some awesome spicy Italian sausage. Hams, pork chops (nice portion size) and new pork hock chops, too. Lots of spare ribs for late summer bbqs. Pork loin and Boston butt roasts.

The pastured turkeys are growing. We will have 30 certified organic turkeys professionally processed the week before Thanksgiving. Contact after Labour Day for pricing.

Counting the days until Thanksgiving...

Organic grazing corn is up. More than enough water, need some heat and dry up so some weed control can start. Harrowing to start.

So, the bulgy broiler boys will be headed to Pigeon Lake Processors on July 15. One of the processing options they offer is a whole cut up chicken. Essentially the same bird we've been as a roaster, cut up into thighs, drumsticks, back, breast, etc. All vacuum packed in a bag. If this is of interest to any of our patrons, let us know and we can try and get some done up this way. There is an extra cost to having them done like this.
