Dear participants, The Jasper Winter Pentathlon Hivernal is cancelled. Unfortunately the site is under water, and all disciplines are pretty much doomed. We will take the day to reassess the situation and look at the weather for possibly postponing next weekend. Stay tune friends and we apologize for this last minute change.... A few last minute important updates for tomorrow. Skaters: We have a 500 M track. The total of skating is 3 km. Will provide more details on site. We highly recommend a helmet. Cross-country skiers: Parks Canada groomed this afternoon, except the first 1 km. The first .5 km you must walk up to Trail 2, and then you can put on your skis to ski the next .5 km not groomed. The rest is tracked and beautifully set. ... We look forward on seeing you all tomorrow morning at package pick up between 8:30 and 10: 30 am. Dress appropriately, it's snowing at Pyramid Lake.

Who's getting excited? Here are the details of each of the disciplines, and some important changes to this year's event! Biking: A 7.5 km on Pyramid Road from the Jasper Activity Centre to Pyramid Lake. *New cross-country skier tagging area by the boathouse. Marked with our giant JWP flag! Cross-country skiing: NEW! The second participant will classic ski a loop of approximately 2,7 km on Trail 2, 2g, 2f. *Skiers will have to remove skis and cross Pyramid Road to access the ...transition zone on the lake to tag the snowshoer. Follow the red flags and signs. Snowshoeing: A 2 km flat pack loop with a view on Pyramid Lake. Skating: *IMPORTANT Skating might be replaced by cross-country skiing if the ice is considered not safe by Thursday end-of-day. If the ice is good, it will be 10 wild skating laps. Stay tuned and please prepared to make this change. Running: A cruisy 4 km run on Trail 15, adding a short section on Trail 2d, to Pyramid Stable. Voici les détails de chacune des disciplines et quelques changements importants à l'événement de cette année! Vélo: 7,5 km sur Pyramid Road, du Jasper Activity Centre au Pyramid Lake. * Nouvelle zone de transition pour les skieurs près du kiosque de réservation. Près de notre drapeau géant JWP! Ski de fond: NOUVEAU! Le deuxième participant fera du ski classique sur une boucle d'environ 2,7 km sur les sentiers 2, 2g, 2f. * Les skieurs devront retirer leurs skis et traverser le chemin Pyramid pour accéder à la zone de transition sur le lac pour atteindre la personne en raquette. Suivez les indicatifs rouges et les panneaux. Raquette: Boucle de 2 km à plat avec vue sur le lac Pyramid. Patinage: * IMPORTANT Le patinage pourrait être remplacé par le ski de fond si la glace n'est pas considérée comme sécuritaire d'ici jeudi en fin de journée. Si la glace est bonne, ce sera 10 tours de patinage sauvage. Restez à l'affût et préparez-vous à effectuer ce changement. Course à pied: une course de 4 km sur le sentier 15, en ajoutant une courte section sur le sentier 2d à Pyramid Stable. Revenez ensuite sur le sentier 15 jusqu'au lac Pyramid pour terminer le Pentathlon. Bravo! Suivez les indications et panneaux verts. Des questions? The countdown is on! We are only 5 days away and are very excited to work on final logistics. Here are a few NEW or IMPORTANT details to remember as you prepare for the pentathlon: - New! Package pick-up (bibs, t-shirts) and last-minute registrations are at the main entrance of the Jasper Junior/Senior HS (401 Bonhomme St) from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, no later! - Soloists, bring all your gear in advance at Pyramid Lake on Saturday morning. The solo zone is where you can keep ...all your gear during the event. A chair is also provided. - Bikers, be ready 10 minutes before the start time in the parking lot of the Jasper Aquatic Centre. The race begins at 11 am sharp! - New! Bikers will bike an extra 50 meters this year to the Pyramid Lake boathouse where you will tag your cross-country skier. - New! Cross-country skiers will hit the trail (not the lake) in the forest on trails 2, 2f and 2g for a 2.6 Loop (map to come). - Please carpool. Parking is limited at Pyramid Lake. - Bring your mug and water bottle. We have hot chocolate and water available. Any questions? La zone solo est l'endroit où vous pouvez garder tout votre équipement pendant l'événement. Une chaise est également fournie. - Les cyclistes, soyez prêts 10 minutes avant l'heure de départ dans le stationnement du Jasper Aquatic Centre. La course commence à 11 heures sans faute! - Nouveau! Les cyclistes feront du vélo sur 50 mètres supplémentaires cette année jusqu'au hangar à bateaux du lac Pyramid où vous rejoindrez votre skieur. - Nouveau! Les skieurs emprunteront le sentier (pas le lac) dans la forêt sur les sentiers 2, 2f et 2g pour une boucle 2.6km (carte à venir). - Veuillez faire du covoiturage.
