The Greater Vancouver real estate market results for 2016 cannot be explained on a total basis, as results by quarter, type of property and area show significant variations. Sales for the 1st quarter of the year posted an impressive 57% ahead of the average of the previous 10 years. The 2nd quarter was 35% ahead of the historical figures as some foreign buyers probably started to slow down after the significant price increases combined with a partial rebound of the Canadian D...ollar in the spring. 3rd quarter sales were 5% below the historical average reacting to the 15% tax for foreign buyers and the 4th quarter sales were 13% below the historical average.
