Jay's Barber Shop 27.09.2020

It's hard to believe this little fella is 3yrs old today. The time has gone so quickly. Gord has become my best buddy. The face of Jay's Barbershop. A friend to... all other doggos he knows. This year in particular we have become inseparable. First with the quarantine and more so after my illness. I can't imagine myself without Gord by my side. From days at the shop, to road trips to Gramma's. From runs in the park to morning cuddles. Anyone that has met you is immediately enamoured Gord. Your personality and behaviour melt even the toughest hearts. I wish you a very happy birthday little buddy! And here's to the next year and whatever adventures we may find!

**ANNOUNCEMENT** Jay's Barbershop will unfortunately continue to be closed for the immediate future. This is not how I planned it, but how it must be. On Thurs.... June 18th, after several days of sweating and shivering, I presented at the Queensway Carleton Hospital. The next few hours saw my condition worsen as they tried to determine a diagnosis. It was officially Septic Embolism of the right Kidney. In the night of Fri. June 19th my condition worsened again. Over the weekend I went up and down dramatically. It was frustrating for the doctors, but fortunately I was well medicated, so my state of mind and memory did not allow for much angst. On Mon. June 22nd, I was visited by a Virologist. He hypothesized, after some questioning, that the infection was blood borne. After a round of blood work, tests and scans, this was determined to be true. Somehow bacteria had entered my blood, gone to my heart, and was then distributed to my organs and glands. This is what caused the right kidney to start shutting down. Once the course of treatment was adjusted, my condition improved quickly. I am now at home with a PICC line. This allows for IV antibiotics to be administered by a nurse once a day. This will continue until July 17th. I relate this narrative not as a way to solicit sympathy or seek attention. I do so in hopes that my friends, family, and clients with better understand why I must delay my reopening. Believe me, I want nothing more than to get behind the chair and start cutting and chatting again. This medical situation had rendered me weak and unable to sustain energy for any duration. As when we were given the green light to reopen mid June, I ask for your patience and understanding. The recovery process is not going to be quick and easy. Anyone who knows me knows I don't handle sitting still very well. In the few days since being discharged I have learned the hard way that I have no choice but to follow doctors orders and rest. I know most of you will understand, and know that I will return to work when it makes sense for me to do so. I will update as I have info, and thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the support. Jason.

**ANNOUNCEMENT** As many of you know by know, barbershops have been cleared to reopen as part of Phase 2, as of today, Friday June 12th. We are very excited to... resume cutting and catching up with clients after such a difficult time. Without question we have missed the interaction, banter, and good times in the shop. While the excitement is there, we strongly feel that it is critical to do the reopening in the right way. With that in mind, we have decided to delay our opening. Over the next few days, as we compile our standards of safety, and take the time to ensure that all clients will be protected, we will make another announcement with a firm date for our start. Please understand that we are choosing to ease in this way most of all for the safety of our clients and ourselves, but also for the greater public, and because of the volume of appointments we are dealing with. We are receiving your texts, messages, and voicemails and are working diligently to reply to everyone. Please be patient as we strive to make certain we are doing this the best possible way. We can't wait to see you, and thank you for yy amazing and generous support during this crazy time. Jason and Gord
