This fabulous film is available to rent now on www.cinemathequeathome.com. Ronnie’s is an exceptional story about one of London’s greatest ever institutions the jazz nightclub Ronnie Scott's - one of the last remaining vestiges of old, bohemian Soho. Chronicling an incredible journey through late 50s and early 60s Soho, the film is not just for jazz fans; it also tells the extraordinary story of how two working-class Londoners (Ronnie Scott and co-founder Pete King) contrib...uted to the cultural life of a great city, making it a vital social document. They were inspired by the vibrant post-war jazz venues they discovered on New York’s 52nd Street. Since then, Ronnie Scott’s Club has played host to the world’s greatest jazz legends. Featuring rare interviews and terrific unseen archival live performances of Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespie, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Ella Fitzgerald, Van Morrison, Buddy Rich and Nina Simone. The music industry in Manitoba has been hard hit by COVID-related disruptions this year. Stages have been dark and studios closed, travel and public health restrictions are keeping artists off the road, leaving many without work. Music fans across the province have been looking for ways to support the local music community, which was one of the first to shut down and will be one of the last to re-start. Manitoba Music and Manitoba Film and Music are launching a social media ...campaign to give fans some ideas of how to support the local music community and perhaps discover some fantastic new music during this season of giving. Throughout the month leading up to the winter holidays, both organizations will be sharing tips for how to connect and share. Both orgs will also be sharing music and merch ideas from local artists and music companies via Instagram Stories. Follow Manitoba Music and Manitoba Film and Music on Instagram to follow the campaign. We appreciate your support!
