Baby got ahold of my sketchbook and brought back travel memories. I once found a small painting of melons at an antiques market in France. I’ve regretted not buying it and ever so often I sketch out a melon still life in hopes of liking it as much as the one that got away. These were flowers growing in front of my in-laws place. For our anniversary, in August, we spent a weekend at their home while they spent a weekend with our kids at our home. I came across a photographer who does beautiful and unique photos of flowers. I couldn’t resist challenging myself to use a lighter hand to drawer one of her photos. Her flower was a lovely soft mauve hue, I couldn’t replicate it, but her use of light and composition was what drew me in. Now I’m kicking myself, I can’t find her again!
