In honour of the 100th anniversary of the discovery of insulin, we will be co-hosting a virtual reception with Research Canada: An Alliance for Health Discovery, the Parliamentary Health Research Caucus and Diabetes Canada. As we celebrate this milestone, continued investments in T1D research are critical, as the next research breakthroughs could happen right here in Canada.

Last year, we launched our Beyond Insulin program, where an exclusive group of donors will have a say in the research projects that their funds will go towards. UNCOVER is one of the three JDRF funded research projects that our group of 37 dedicated donors will vote on. This project led by Dr. Megan Levings, head of Childhood Diseases Theme at the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute, is studying how the autoimmune response is curtailed by T1D therapies in clinical testing, and exploring new approaches to cure T1D by targeting the immune system.
