As 2021 marks the centenary of the discovery of insulin, we recognize that insulin remains a treatment and not a cure. That’s why JDRF is calling on the Government of Canada to renew the JDRF-CIHR Partnership to Defeat Diabetes - a partnership that harnesses the efforts of Canada’s best and brightest scientific minds to focus on T1D prevention and cures. JDRF and our donors will match the government’s contribution of $15M because together, we can make life-changing results. SHARE this post to amplify our ask to the Government to ensure the funding for this partnership is renewed for T1D research so we can move beyond insulin, towards a cure. #BeyondInsulin #insulin100

Thank you to SPINCO Halifax and SPINCO Bedford for choosing to select JDRF as a partner with the Spin it Forward event in January that raised $210! These funds raised will help with the fight for cure therapies for the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community.

The final research project proposed to our dedicated group of Beyond Insulin members is CONNECT. This project is led by Dr. Cafazzo, who is the Associate Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, and his team is developing a platform to connect the type 1 diabetes community with research and to facilitate recruitment into clinical studies.
