JOHN McGARRY NIGHT APRIL 14TH,2021 The Winsloe Lions’ Hall will be the location for two special shows honouring John McGarry . John is well known as the owner o...f Computer Fix in Charlottetown and also as the talented bass player of Phase II and Phase II and Friends. In recent months, John has been undergoing cancer treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The treatments are very aggressive and therefore they demand all of John’s energy and strength. As a result, he has had to greatly cut back on the hours which he works, and all of us understand the impact of this on a self employed person. It is no exaggeration to say that this fundraiser is well deserved. John has been a member of Phase II for well over twenty years. In that time, the members of the band have received a PEI Music Award for Contributor of the year in 2019, as well as Citizenship Awards from the City of Charlottetown for helping to raise well over $1000,000 by performing for free to assist others in need. John has always been a willing participant in all of these events. Besides his contributions with Phase II and Phase II and Friends, John and his father, Joe McGarry along with bothers Michael and Roy, played many benefits for free as well. I don’t know of any Island musician more deserving of our generosity. A well known musical group called the Ceilidh In the City Band has kindly offered one of their regular Wednesday night spots to host two shows, one in the afternoon from 2-4 and one in the evening from 7-9. Kendall Docherty, Brian Knox, Heartz Godkin and Peter Burke will all perform in aid of John as well. Due to Covid restrictions, only fifty people are permitted at each show. The evening show was sold out immediately to John’s family and close friends. There are a few tickets available for the afternoon show, but we are sure they will sell quickly as well. We realize that some who are unable to acquire tickets will want to contribute and we are offering the following: Anyone who purchases a ticket after all are sold, or anyone who makes a donation will have their name entered in a draw for a prize.
