Easily the biggest question I'm being asked right now is 'I'm not technically in a medical quarantine so do I qualify for EI Sickness Benefits" Sourced from an article by Daniel Lublin, a workplace law expert at Whitten & Lublin: "For the purposes of a Sickness Benefits claim, a quarantine may be proven to Service Canada by providing a declaration that the quarantine was imposed on the claimant by a public-health official for the health and safety of the public at large o...r recommended by such an official for the health and safety of the public at large and the claimant was asked by their employer, a medical doctor, a nurse or another similar person in authority to place themselves under quarantine. For those in a field, like RMT's, where their regulator and the clinics they work at have closed and imposed a self-quarantine on them, I believe this has been met. As a result individuals in this position should be claiming the Sickness Benefits and when doing so clearly declare that a quarantine has been imposed on them as a result of the nature of their work.

Everyone should take the time to check this out. Cheques often go missing when people move and before they've had the chance to update their details with the CRA!
