Why choose HARD? Why choose the CHALLENGE everyday? Wouldn’t life be so much EASIER if we settled for COMFORTABLE? ... Moving three provinces away from family, friends and all we’ve ever known, to pursue a CRAZY dream of living a self-sufficient, country life was SO SCARY. But we pushed through that FEAR to find ourselves three years later, HAPPIER and more CONTENT with life Buying our very first homestead cow, and the many unexpected challenges that came with her, was SO FRUSTRATING. And many times I thought I was officially crazy, but we pushed through and now we couldn’t imagine life without our dear Martha and all of the deliciousness she provides us everyday. When a lot of the work falls on my lap during the week, while hubby is away at work, some days feel OVERWHELMING, but each and every day I remind myself to focus on the smaller picture and the bigger picture will then take care of itself. Everyday we push ourselves to IMPROVE by just 1%!!! And you know what happens?! Most evenings I look back at my day, and realize I did a WHOLE lot more than 1%. Pushing ourselves is SCARY, but after pushing through that feeling, it is replaced by SATISFACTION, CONTENTMENT, CONFIDENCE and PEACE. Looking back at the times I’ve pushed through the FEAR and have seen GROWTH come in its place.

A beautiful, wonderful and special morning on the homestead. A little heifer calf has joined the craziness that we love. Now, it’s back to 5am mornings to milking again. Am I looking forward to that??!! #homestead #selfsufficient #calfshare #homesteadmilkcow #loveourlife
Dear Followers!!! We need your HELP! We need all the cardboard we can find. Please DM me, and I’m willing to pick up are your convenient time. Why? As you know, we’re passionate about the land we live on, and feeding our earth in a natural way.... Our gardens are being completely transformed into a no-till garden, leaving the earth completely alone. To choke out our weeds, we need to lay down cardboard, add a thick layer of the compost in top that our animals have made over the winter. Within months the cardboard will compost, encouraging worm activity and beneficial bugs into our garden. In return, we will be creating the most beautiful, healthy, nutritious soil to grow your vegetables, that will be available at this years Farmers Market! #notill #communitysupport #oakridgefarmersmarket #organicfarming #lettheearthfeedyou
