Size diversity is a biological reality and deserves to be celebrated. Throughout human history, there have been people of all shapes and sizes. We can choose to... acknowledge and celebrate our differences without valuing one kind of body over another. All bodies are good bodies. Many of you can look at your loved ones and wholeheartedly accept them in the body they are in. We believe you can include yourself in that too. We live in a culture that tries to tell us the only way to have a good body is to have a thin one. That simply isn’t possible for a lot of people who have genetic predilections for different body types. Working hard to suppress your natural body weight does more harm than good. When you choose to start or stay on the journey of respecting your own body at whatever size it is, you are also choosing a path of body autonomy and freedom. Body sovereignty opens the door to reclaiming trust in yourself and your body. -Image Description- text reads: #BodyTrustTuesday You are so much more than a number on a scale. #BTT #BodyTrust #BodyTrustIsYourBirthright #AllBodiesAreGoodBodies #DoNoHarm #HAES #HealthAtEverySize #IntuitiveEating #IE #ED #EDRecovery #Healing #NoWrongWayToHaveABody #TheBodyIsNotAnApology #AntiDiet

Body image - or body relationship - healing is not a one-stop shop, where there's a "place" to get to and we will always feel comfortable, accepting, loving or ...embracing of our bodies. Our relationships with our bodies shifts and evolves over time which can be interrupted by our own expectations of this experience. *pause* just for a moment here to explain why I say "our bodies" rather than "our body" (noting that this does not come from academia, literally from my own brain and the generous reflections of one friend...). I have come to understand that they way we relate to ourselves as physical, emotional and spiritual beings is one which happens over time, one which brings with it memories in the form of thought. emotion, sensation and perception. It is a very human experience to feel more accepting and at peace with our body at one period of time, yet highly disconnected or rejecting of our body at another time. This does not mean that "we're doing it right" if we're experiencing pleasant feelings, and "doing it wrong" if we're not (a common human tripping point). So when I say "bodies" I'm referring to the multiple ways we have related to our singular body over time, and thus ways we can explore our experiences through a new lens of curiosity, courage & compassion. It's not a comfortable one, but one which brings with it enormous rewards in the form of true acceptance (contrasted with conditional acceptance), liberation & freedom. No ifs, no buts, no whens, no exceptions. . . #bodyliberation #HAES #allbodies #healthism #mindfuldietitian See more

Proud to be a fat positive dietitian I’m so happy to be a part of the @fat.besties directory and an ally to the fat* community. Check out all the great work they are doing on Vancouver Island My intention is always to create a safe space for clients in all bodies. From the words I use to acknowledge a persons experience to the chairs I have available to sit in - it all matters. I’m also definitely still learning and always open to feedback. ... *Fat is being used with the intention of reclaiming the word as a description, not in a derogatory nature.
